Soccer opinion: Five talking points ahead of Matchweek 30 of the Premier League
The Premier League returns for Matchweek 30 this weekend with another exciting round of fixtures.
As we start to enter the crucial part of the season, every result has a major impact on how the table might finish.
From the title race at the top of the table to the battle for European football, to the fight to avoid relegation, several key storylines are set to unfold over the coming days, writes Sports News Blitz’s Tyler Cooke.
Liverpool v Tottenham - A huge test at Anfield
One fixture everyone will be keeping an eye on this weekend is Liverpool v Tottenham Hotspur at Anfield - a big game for both clubs.
Liverpool will be hoping to get the win over Spurs, with the Reds sitting in sixth on 48 points. They will need the win if they are to push for a Champion League place next season.
With Anfield often being the stage for big performances when the stakes are high, Liverpool will use the advantage of the home crowd to help them push for another crucial three points.
Tottenham, however, will want to grab all three points if possible at Anfield to save their season, Spurs currently sit 16th in the Premier League with 29 points and haven’t won a game in their last five matches.
Spurs sit only one point above relegation and will need a win at Anfield if they want to create a gap between them and the bottom three, increasing their chances of staying up this season.
Manchester United looking for consistency
Manchester United welcome Aston Villa to Old Trafford in a game that could impact the race for European places.
Both teams find themselves in Champion League spots currently, level on 51 points with Man United in third and Aston Villa in fourth.
Ever since appointing Micheal Carrick, United have won six out of the last eight games, two of them against Arsenal and rivals Manchester City.
With United wanting to get back into the Champion League, a win against Villa would certainly help the Red Devils secure that third-place spot.
Villa in recent fixtures have dropped off in form after not winning their last three Premier League games.
Villa early in the season had an 11-game win streak in all competitions, helping them reach Champions League spots. But if Villa keep up the form they are in, they will struggle against an in-form Man United side.
Arsenal aim to maintain title pressure
Arsenal will look to maintain their title pressure on Manchester City. The Gunners are currently top of the table with 67 points, seven points clear of Man City who have a game in hand.
The Gunners take on Everton which won’t be easy - Everton currently sit eighth in the Premier League on 43 points and are pushing for Europe next season.
Both teams will need the win for their season, but with Arsenal having the home advantage it will be difficult for Everton to hold off Mikel Arteta's side.

Mid-table battles could shape the season
While the biggest headlines often focus on the title race, the mid-table battle has become increasingly competitive.
Matches such as Crystal Palace v Leeds United and Nottingham Forest v Fulham could prove crucial as they all look to climb the table.
With only a small number of points separating several clubs, a good run of results could propel a team away from the relegation fight.
But failing to win means being dragged closer to a relegation battle.
These fixtures may not always attract the same attention as the clashes between the traditional “Big Six,” but they often produce some of the most competitive and unpredictable matches of the weekend.
Manchester City aiming to avoid a slip-up
Manchester City face an important away trip to West Ham United, with Pep Guardiola’s side needing a strong performance to keep themselves firmly in the Premier League title race.
City come into the fixture under pressure following a difficult week that included a heavy defeat to Real Madrid in the Champions League.
This raised questions about their recent form and defensive stability. The loss means Guardiola’s side will be eager to respond when domestic action resumes.
The stakes are particularly high in the title race. City could find themselves several points behind league-leaders Arsenal, meaning any dropped points would give their rivals the chance to extend the gap at the top of the table.
However, a trip to the London Stadium is rarely straightforward.
West Ham’s physical style and ability to counter-attack have caused problems for top teams in the past, and the hosts will be motivated by the opportunity to secure a major result in front of their home fans.
A victory for the Hammers will aid them in their goal to remain firmly away from the lower end of the table.
