SA20 news: Full list of fixtures, dates and times for 2026 edition of South Africa’s premier T20 league

The SA20 returns this December, bringing South Africa’s premier T20 league back for a fourth season of high-stakes, high-energy cricket.

With a schedule stretching into early 2026, the tournament promises big crowds, bigger hits, and the kind of drama that only T20 cricket can deliver – sometimes in the space of only a couple of overs.

All six original teams are back in the mix too, including defending champions MI Cape Town and two-time winners Sunrisers Eastern Cape, with everyone involved sure to fancy their chances of glory.

From Cape Town to Centurion, you can expect packed stadiums, flying stumps, and at least one match that ends with a scoop over fine leg in the final over.

Here, Sports News Blitz offers a full breakdown of the upcoming tournament’s fixtures, dates, and times.

Everything you need to know about the SA20

Launched in 2023, the SA20 is South Africa’s flagship T20 competition – created to spice up the local calendar, showcase homegrown talent, and give commentators another chance to say “that’s gone miles!” about something that lands 10 rows back.

The tournament boasts six outfits, all backed by Indian Premier League (IPL) franchises, and features a double round-robin league phase before a climax of knockout cricket.

Squads are built around a mix of Proteas regulars and overseas stars, with the annual player auction usually ending with one uncapped player going for five times his base price and a veteran sneaking into someone’s XI just for the vibes.

The teams are: MI Cape Town (owned by Mumbai Indians), Joburg Super Kings (Chennai Super Kings), Sunrisers Eastern Cape (Sunrisers Hyderabad), Durban’s Super Giants (Lucknow Super Giants), Paarl Royals (Rajasthan Royals), and Pretoria Capitals (Delhi Capitals).

Each team comes with its own flavour, fan base, and home fortress – although some stadiums are more fortress-y than others, depending on the pitch.

Matches take place at top venues like Newlands, the Wanderers, Kingsmead, Centurion, St George’s, and Boland Park, with each ground offering quick outfields and DJs who rarely miss a beat.

This year, the SA20 final will be staged at the picturesque Newlands Cricket Ground, promising a fittingly scenic and electric atmosphere for the tournament’s showpiece.

Now entering its fourth go-around, the SA20 is quickly earning a reputation as one of the most watchable T20 leagues on the planet – even if you occasionally miss three wickets while going to get a snack.
