Padel news: Agustin Tapia, Arturo Coello, Delfina Brea Senesi and Gemma Triay Pons top FIP rankings

After a year of shifting partnerships, thrilling finales, and never-ending entertainment, the 2025 padel season has officially come to a close.

Here, Sports News Blitz writer Vanely Barumire takes a look at how the International Padel Federation world rankings played out.

Men’s side

The men’s side of the tour was mostly predictable, with the usual standout pairings taking centre stage and many of the rankings sealed before the season was over.

1. Agustín Tapia and Arturo Coello

The pair dominated this season as if it was already written out.

Tapia and Coello took home 13 out of a possible 23 pieces of silverware, winning three out of four Majors, six P1 events, three P2 events, and the Premier Padel Tour Finals in Barcelona.

In doing so, the duo sealed top spot in the rankings in style and cemented themselves as the most successful pairing in the sport.

2. Alejandro Galán and Federico Chingotto

Second spot was taken by another dominant pair, Galán and Chingotto having posed a real threat to Tapia and Coello this season.

The pair flipped the script in Kuwait too, beating the top seeds to become World Cup Pairs champions.

They were determined to lead the rankings at the end of it all and despite coming up short, ‘Chingalan’ will be looking to seal the number one spot again next year.

3. Franco Stupaczuk and Juan Lebrón

This highly anticipated partnership was announced towards the end of last season and 2025 proved to be successful for the duo.

They won the Cancun P2 event and consistently provided thrilling second-half comebacks.

Despite stretching the semi-finals, the Dubai P1 event was the final display from this tumultuous pairing and soon after, new pairings were announced – Stupaczuk reunited with 2024 partner Martín Di Nenno and Lebrón teamed up with Leandro Augsburger.

Stupaczuk and Di Nenno subsequently won the battle against their former partners in the Premier Padel Tour Finals in Barcelona, edging ‘Stupa’ above Lebrón in the final rankings.

Women’s side

Offering a closer competition for the top spot, the women’s side of the 2025 campaign was packed with bittersweet farewells and interchanging number one seeds.

1. Delfina Brea Senesi and Gemma Triay Pons

Delfina Brea and Gemma Triay were able to clinch the top spot from Ariana Sánchez Fallada and Paula Josemaría Martín during the season and then solidified their number one status in Barcelona.

They were a formidable force, winning the German P2 tournament and reaching the finals in many competitions.

Known for an aggressive playing style and strong court coverage, the duo was seemingly unstoppable and a threat for the top spot right from the start.

Triay separated from Claudia Fernández Sánchez in 2024 in the hopes of returning to the top spot and that decision has clearly proved the right one.

2. Ariana Sánchez Fallada and Paula Josemaría Martín

The current World Cup Pairs champions were a force to be reckoned with in 2025.

Similar to the men’s second seeds, Sánchez and Josemaría arrived in Kuwait with a point to prove, and they beat top seeds Triay and Brea in a thrilling three-set final.

Sadly, 2025 saw the end of this incredible duo as the pair made the decision to dissolve their five-year partnership.

With 44 titles to their names, they are arguably the most decorated female padel players in history.

And although 2026 will look different for them, at least fans can still watch and appreciate them.

3. Beatriz González Fernandez and Claudia Fernández Sánchez

This pair was the only one to consistently challenge the top two seeds throughout the season, repeatedly posing a threat in the rankings.

After victory in Dubai, the pair went on to upset top-seeded Triay and Brea to win the Mexico Major.

Taking home six titles including the Premier Padel Tour Final, the pair rapidly rose through the rankings and finished less than 200 points behind the second seeds.

By all accounts, 2025 was a breakthrough season for the pair and 2026 could be the year they cement their names in padel history.
