Wimbledon news: First day of SW19 Championships set for record temperature, says William Hill
Today could bring the hottest temperature ever recorded at Wimbledon, according to William Hill, as the leading bookmaker is offering 3/1 that the 35.7C record, which has stood since 2015, will be beaten.
SW19 could also be hotter than a range of worldwide destinations, including Ibiza (1/2) and Miami (4/7).
Wimbledon heats up
Spokesperson for William Hill, Lee Phelps, said: “Wimbledon 2025 is upon us and this year is set to be a scorcher not only on the court, but off it as well, as a heatwave looms.
“There’s a good chance, at 3/1, we could see the hottest-ever temperature recorded at the Championships today, beating the previous record of 35.7C which has stood since 2015.
“Those seeking sun elsewhere might be regretting their decision to leave London this week, as we go odds-on for Wimbledon to be hotter today than Barbados, Ibiza, and Miami.
“Paddling pools will be filled around the country, but the extreme heat could bring a hosepipe ban and we’re 5/1 that one comes into effect this month.”
