Royal Ascot ITV horse racing tips and best bets on Saturday, June 20

As is the current fashion, Sports News Blitz tipster Jeff Mexico has taken to his kitchen to write out his racing tips on a chalk board.

He has also donned a blonde wig, sparkling top, some high-waisted trousers, and put on a grating London accent to complete the look.

Jeff is convinced this new approach will help him trawl the final day of Royal Ascot for some big winners.

Failing that, he has also got his eye on managing the USA women’s national team.

Jeff Mexico’s betting tips

I always like to volunteer to clean the Royal Ascot toilets at the end of each day.

Obviously I don’t bother with things like urinals, sinks, or floors. My sole purpose is to brush up all the cocaine that is left on the top of the toilet cisterns.

I’ve acquired so much over the years that locals refer to me as the ‘Ascot Escobar’, and I’m currently under investigation from HM Revenue & Customs.

Don’t worry, though – they’ll never catch me as I transport it in a used condom I’ve shoved up my arse. Now that’s living on the edge, anyway horses…

14:30 (Ascot) – The Norfolk Stakes (Listed)

Win tip: Carry The Flag

Form suggests he’s already battle-hardened, whereas several rivals are stepping straight from maiden company into a much deeper Group race. O’Brien–Moore combo can’t be ignored for obvious reasons.

Each-way tip: Force Noir

Profile screams ‘Ascot improver’. Has already won in April at Naas and should be extremely competitive for a race of this nature. Trainer Kevin Philippart de Foy has been operating at an excellent strike-rate too.

15:05 – The Hardwicke Stakes (Group 2)

Win tip: Goliath

Proven at a very high level internationally. Genuine Group 1 ability and the sort of horse who could simply outclass a Group 2 field on his day. Strong stayer at the trip.

Each-way tip: Ethical Diamond

Unlike some exposed six-year-olds in the field, Ethical Diamond retains scope to improve at middle distances. Has good stamina and Ascot’s 1m4f often rewards horses who stay slightly further than the bare trip.

15:40 – The Queen Elizabeth II Jubilee Stakes (Group 1)

Win tip: Joliestar

Australian sprinters have an outstanding record in Royal Ascot’s top sprint races because they arrive battle-hardened from stronger sprint programmes than most European runners. Has repeatedly run against elite sprint opposition and has shown the ability to produce a finishing burst off a strong pace.

Each-way tip: Flora Of Bermuda

Has repeatedly performed with credit in top sprint company and comes here after a winning seasonal return. Rarely finishes far away in elite company.

16:20 – The Jersey Stakes (Group 3)

Win tip: Saber Strike

The Jersey is often won by horses who are just below Classic level over a mile and then improve when dropped back to 7f. Saber Strike fits that profile perfectly. Has enough stamina to finish strongly uphill and the ability to handle a large-field pace collapse.

Each-way tip: Thesecretadversary

Looks overpriced relative to some rivals and could easily outrun double-figure odds.

17:00 – The Wokingham Stakes (Heritage Handicap)

Win tip: Spy Chief

Recent form figures suggest he is still progressing rather than merely holding his mark. Arrives after a strong second-place effort and is trained by the Gosden yard. Shapes like a horse who will relish a strongly run 6f where stamina at the trip becomes important.

Each-way tip: Soldier’s Tree

Recent figures suggest a horse running consistently well without the market fully catching up. Has enough tactical pace to hold position but doesn’t rely on dominating from the front, which is often an advantage in the Wokingham.

17:35 – The Golden Gates Stakes (Handicap) (Class 2)

Win tip: Lost Boys

Has shown he handles strong gallops, big fields, and good-to-firm ground. A lot of rivals are still unexposed, but Lost Boys has already run to a high level in a deep race and still looks on a workable mark relative to that form.

Each-way tip: Evanesco

Has shown steady progression and already has wins at 1m–1m2f on good-to-firm ground.

18:10 – The Queen Alexandra Stakes (Conditions) (Class 2)

Win tip: Illinois

One of the few here who has already shown Group-class staying ability over extreme distances. In a race where many are ‘flat stayers’ stepping up, he brings proven depth of stamina and class. Form suggests he can maintain gallop over this big distance.

Each-way tip: Columbus

Recent efforts indicate he stays well and actually improves the deeper the stamina test becomes. Fits the place-heavy Willie Mullins stayer profile and has more scope for improvement at marathon trips.
