Perennial winners Australia are favourites
Australia's record in this competition is extraordinary. It is no surprise that they are sitting comfortably at the top of the outright market. They have won six of the previous nine Women's T20 World Cups. The market backs Australia at odds of just 1.63.
The price, though, leaves little room for error in a tournament featuring knockout cricket. Gone are the days when Australia were so far ahead of the chasing pack. One bad day or one inspired opposition performance can undo years of reputation. The margins are fine. The dominance that once saw them steamroll tournaments has now softened.
England, India, New Zealand and South Africa have closed the gap in recent years.

India and England head the chasing pack
India arrive with high expectations after their 50-over World Cup triumph last year. The Indian contingent has depth, experience and star power. At 4.50, the market is asking punters to believe they can go the distance in the shortest format as well. However, consistency remains a concern. Those odds look generous given India’s mixed record in ICC knockout matches.
Meanwhile, the hosts England are priced at 5.50. The English look the most likely side to capitalise due to a significant home conditions advantage. They have underachieved in Women's T20 World Cup history, winning only one of their four final appearances. The onus is now on the experienced England unit to handle the pressure of playing at home.
South Africa and New Zealand are dark horses
South Africa and New Zealand have both shown that they are no longer happy just to make up the numbers. South Africa reached the finals of the most recent Women's T20 World Cup and Women's ODI World Cup, while New Zealand enter the tournament as defending champions.
At 11.00, South Africa could appeal to bettors searching for an alternative to the big three. Defending champions New Zealand, packed with power and experience, look surprisingly overlooked at 26.00 and represent interesting outsiders in the outright market. Few expected them to lift the trophy in 2024, yet they produced one of the great tournament campaigns to end Australia’s reign in the UAE.
