NFL betting tips: Chiefs chase Super Bowl redemption as J.J. McCarthy looks promising for Vikings
It’s gameweek two of the NFL regular season and things are already beginning to shape up nicely.
The Philadelphia Eagles once more look like postseason favourites, while the Kansas City Chiefs are still trying to fix last season’s problems.
The pair meet again this week in a rematch of the Super Bowl stomping that saw Jalen Hurts’ Philly side crowned Super Bowl LIX champions.
Elsewhere, the Minnesota Vikings will be hoping rookie quarterback J.J. McCarthy has found his feet and the Bills look like a team not to be slept on.
Here, Sports News Blitz’s Sam Condy offers up three of his favourite picks ahead of the action.
Philadelphia Eagles @ Kansas City Chiefs
The Chiefs’ gameweek one performance left lots to be desired, and they still look plagued by the same problems that hindered them last term.
In that, their offence looks tired and there is little run game to get excited about.
Don’t get me wrong, Mahomes undoubtedly remains one of the league’s greatest QBs, but I’m not sure his shoulders are strong enough to carry a team that lacks so much creativity on the front foot.
Meanwhile, the reigning Super Bowl champs haven’t lost a step.
Hurts continued to impress last week, throwing for 152 yards and rushing for 62 with two touchdowns, as the Eagles got the job done in their season opener against the Dallas Cowboys.
On Sunday, I think Philly’s defence will neutralise a stuttering Chiefs offence, and the Eagles will come out of the low-scoring affair better off.

Buffalo Bills @ New York Jets
Once again, the Bills look like a dangerous side.
They fought hard to salvage a win over the Baltimore Ravens in gameweek one, scoring 22 points in the final quarter to clinch a one-point victory.
On the other hand, the Jets’ offensive capabilities in a narrow loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers came as a welcome shock.
Question marks circled Justin Fields heading into the season, with many apprehensive over his ability to lead the helm at quarterback for the Jets.
However, 218 passing yards and 48 rushing yards will have put a majority of New Yorkers’ minds at ease.
Regardless, the Bills are the likely victors this week, but with their defence still on slightly shaky legs, betting on a high-scoring game seems to be the best play.

Atlanta Falcons @ Minnesota Vikings
Rookie QB McCarthy stalled during the opening stanza of his NFL debut, but once he got into gear, the 22-year-old was flying – leading the Vikings to a 27-24 win over the Chicago Bears.
He threw for two touchdowns and grabbed a third himself. If he can keep his confidence high, the Vikings may have stumbled onto an incredible talent.
The Falcons, by contrast, are clearly lacking end-product.
QB Michael Penix Jr. had a good game, with 298 passing yards and one touchdown while running for one more, yet the Atlanta running backs were – to put it bluntly – pants.
I can see the vision when it comes to the Falcons, but they are simply missing the final piece of the puzzle.
They will pick themselves up as the season progresses, but as it stands, the Vikings should win on Monday.
Suggested bet: Minnesota Vikings (-6.5) @ 8/5 with Coral
