Horse racing news: Shrewd punter turns paltry 52p into nearly £12,000 by picking seven winners

William Hill have been left scratching their heads after a shrewd punter turned their Saturday 26p each-way multiple into £11,777.04, picking seven winners across the action from Haydock, Kempton, Stratford, and Ascot.

Dream punt is a bookie’s worst nightmare

The winning run started with Zeus Olympios (4/1) in the Haydock opener before Valiancy (9/2) scored in the 2.25pm and Five Ways (5/1) won down at Kempton.

Abloom’s (11/2) dominant victory at Ascot continued proceedings, quickly followed by Caprelo (6/4) at Kempton.

It was then all down to two selections at Stratford, Hamlet’s Night (5/4) and Radharc Na Slaine (4/1), who both won to see the bettor land the odds.

Spokesperson for William Hill, Lee Phelps, said: “It’s the stuff of punting dreams and bookies’ nightmares for a bettor to turn pennies into thousands, and that’s exactly what happened over the weekend.

“A 26p each-way eight-fold across four Saturday meetings landed, seeing the punter walk away with nearly £12,000.

“This is a remarkable bet that’s shocked our trading team, and we simply have to salute the punter in question.”
