Golf news: A look at Scottie Scheffler’s major victories after PGA Championship glory
World number one Scottie Scheffler managed to pick up his third major title and 15th PGA tour win at Quail Hollow this weekend, finishing with a five-shot victory.
The dominant American held off players such as Bryson Dechambeau, who finished joint second, and Jon Rahm who dropped five shots in the final three holes.
Here, Sports News Blitz writer Matt Mckenry looks at Scheffler’s latest Major victory at the Hollow - then analyses his other two Major wins.
Quail Hollow, 2025
Scheffler had a three-shot advantage going into the final round at the Hollow.
He saw his lead grow to five as his playing partner dropped early bogeys giving the rest of the pack a sense of hope to get back into the mix for victory.
Rahm, a former world number one, pulled out three birdies in a four-hole run in order to catch up and apply pressure on the American.
However, it was not to be as the infamous Green Mile stretch proved too much as Rahm seemingly dropped five shots giving Scheffler complete control.
Bridies at the 14th and a final hole bogey leaving him on level 71 proved to be enough for Scheffler to pick up his third Masters gold with no one being able to reach him.
Support and adulation came from many golfers such as Phil Mickelson and Justin Thomas on social media.
They stated that he is the clear number one and that his performances are dominant and inspiring showing the level at which Scheffler is performing.
The Masters, 2022
His first career major, Scheffler won by three strokes over Rory Mcllroy.
Scheffler was in great form going into the Masters having won the WM Phoenix Open, the Arnold Palmer Invitational and WGC-Dell Technologies Match Play.
He entered the Masters as the world number one.
Leading by five strokes after the second round, his main threat was that of Cameron Smith, who managed to bring the deficit down to one stroke in the final round.
Both men were in tough positions, with Scheffler chipping for birdies and Smith managing only a bogey.
Smith’s triple bogey at the twelfth put his aspirations of Masters glory to bed as it meant Scheffler was unchallenged for much of the final round.
Mcllroy’s final charge was very impressive however it wasn't enough to catch the American.
Starting the round 10 shots behind, McIlroy shot an 8-under-par 64 in order to clinch second place, his best major finish since 2014.
Overall Scheffler did enough to secure the desired green jacket for himself for the very first time, succeeding Hideki Matsuyama who finished tied 14th on the final day.

The Masters, 2024
Another Augusta National victory for Scheffler following on from his win two years prior, Scheffler became the fourth youngest two-time winner of the Masters.
He also became only the second player, after Tiger Woods, to win the Masters and the Players in the same calendar year.
Scheffler shot an all-important four under 68 on the final day to win his second Masters title in three years, beating out runner-up Ludwig Aberg by four shots.
Beginning his final round with a one-shot lead, he began his round with a birdie at the third going two shots up.
A bogey at the seventh opened up a three-way tie for first with Aberg and Colin Morikawa.
Scheffler and Morikawa both birdied the eighth hole and Scheffler again at the ninth to take the solo lead once more.
All three challengers dropped off soon after with Morikawa and Aberg both finding the water at 11 and Homa had to take a drop at the 12th.
Scheffler birdied the 10th, his third in a row, opening up a two-shot lead. Despite a bogey at the 11th, birdies at the 13th,14th and 16th were enough to get him to 11 under.
Aberg birdied the 13th and 14th to return to seven under and finish four back of Scheffler in his Masters Debut.
Scheffler picked up his second green jacket of his career, a fine achievement reflecting his abilities and talent as the world number one.
Dominance and determination reflect the abilities of Scottie Scheffler as he keeps on winning and this week is no different.
Scheffler will look to carry his form forward throughout the tour picking up more potential wins and Major honours on his way.
