FA Cup news: Oliver Glasner hails ‘special’ Crystal Palace title win over Manchester City
Crystal Palace manager Oliver Glasner has hailed the Eagles’ historic FA Cup final victory over Manchester City on Saturday as a “special win”.
His unfancied outfit beat Pep Guardiola’s high-powered side 1-0 thanks to a 16th-minute Eberechi Eze goal and in doing so won the first major trophy in their 119-year history.
The game was not without controversy, though, as Eagles goalkeeper Dean Henderson escaped a red card for handling outside his area before subsequently saving an Omar Marmoush penalty in an influential display from the former Manchester United man.

Glasner proud of Palace effort
Glasner expressed relief at the final whistle after a brilliant, dogged effort from his players saw them deliver the Eagles’ long-awaited first major honour.
“To be honest, I can't really believe it,” he said. “When you play this game 10 times, you win it once, and this happened today.
“The goal was the first time we were in their half and then we just defended with every single part of the body. I'm really proud of the team and the whole staff. All the credit to them.
“When you always stick together and support each other, you deserve it. It's a special win for our fans.”

Henderson dismisses red card controversy
Henderson, who joined Palace from United two years ago, put in an all-action display at Wembley against his former side’s rivals.
“I didn't know [the VAR review] was for me,” he told ITV after the game. “Who cares – it doesn't matter. I am not bothered.”
On his penalty save, Henderson was more enthusiastic: “I saved a penalty down there a few years ago for Shrewsbury. I fancied my chances in that corner.
“He smashed it hard and I went the right way.”

Keane lauds Eagles’ title win
In the aftermath of a famous victory, Sky Sports pundit Roy Keane was full of praise for Palace.
“Today is not about Man City,” the former midfielder said. “They've had loads of credit over the years, they're a fantastic team in terms of the success they've had, but this is Crystal Palace's day.
“Every team has got to have a plan – you've got to go and do the business. You've got to have spirit, fight, quality, a little bit of luck, belief, and they've had all that today and more.
“There are kids in disbelief thinking 'is this the real Crystal Palace?'
“I'm sure it won't be another 100 years until they win a trophy.”
