Chelsea's summer spending spree continues with Xavi Simons and Alejandro Garnacho in sight

Summer 2025 has been yet another busy transfer window for the world champions, Chelsea.

Having already secured the signatures of Liam Delap, Joao Pedro, and recently, Jorrel Hato, the Blues are still aiming to sign Xavi Simons and Alejandro Garnacho.

Chelsea are closing in on both deals, with relations good between both clubs, and both players are open to leaving their respective clubs.

Xavi Simons deal nearing completion

Xavi Simons, who has two years left on his contract, was not in RB Leipzig's squad for their friendly against Atalanta on Saturday, August 2.

"Due to the very concrete interest from several clubs, we have decided that he will not play today," Schafer said to Sky Germany.

While Chelsea may be leading the race to sign the Dutchman, it was reported that Bayern Munich have also shown interest.

Simons has already agreed personal terms with Chelsea, with the delay coming from fee negotiations between the two clubs, with RB Leipzig proving to be stubborn.

"When I say that strong interest has been registered and approaches have been made, it's obvious what has happened.

“I would like to make it clear that this does not mean that he is on his way to another club. And it also does not mean that Benji [Benjamin Sesko] will not be playing next week.”

An inevitable exit for Garnacho

Meanwhile, Alejandro Garnacho has been on Chelsea’s radar much longer.

With relations between Garnacho and Manchester United turning sour over the last few months, his departure is imminent.

Speaking to journalists in the US, Manchester United boss Ruben Amorim said that “it's clear Garnacho wants a different thing with a different leadership, and I can understand that. So I think it's not a problem."

Sales are important for the Red Devils this summer, as they approach a season void of European football.

"I'm really happy with the team," said Amorim. "Without European competitions, I want a small squad so everyone feels really important.”

West London looks to be the most likely destination for the winger, with Chelsea having shown interest across two transfer windows now.
