2026/27 Premier League betting tips: Best title race and relegation bets ahead of the new season
Oyyy Oyyy. The 2026/27 Premier League season is now just a few weeks away, and the excitement is tangible.
How was your summer, by the way? I’m convalescing after suffering a fifth metatarsal fracture while break dancing (alas quite literally) at a wedding in Cyprus.
Lots of time on my hands, so for the first time I read The Gambler by Fyodor Dostoevsky. Verdict? While not exactly sh*te, I felt it was somewhat disappointing.
Let’s have it right. Dostoevsky was a lousy gambler. Not a bad writer per se, but truthfully you wouldn’t have passed the time of day with him in your local Betfred or Wetherspoons.
I digress. Read on for a breakdown of the best bets from the Premier League outright markets - courtesy of Sports News Blitz’s punting laureate - The Bookie Basher.
6/1 Liverpool look vulnerable defensively
The title, as ever, realistically belongs to probably four clubs max before a ball is kicked and to only one by May, when everyone else explains why finishing fourth was secretly the plan all along.
We are living in unprecedented times, with nine top-flight clubs set to begin the campaign with a new permanent manager for the 2026/27 campaign.
The bookies have Arsenal as pretty warm favourites, with usual suspects Manchester City and Liverpool as their nearest challengers.
It’s as plain as a pikestaff that Liverpool require reinforcements at the back. In three matches in the USA, they shipped six goals, but four of those came against Leeds in the space of 25 crazy second-half minutes at the weekend.
Captain Virgil van Dijk is back in training, but he just didn't look the dominant force of old last season, and it's not obvious who will partner him against Newcastle on match day one.
VVD himself looked bang average last term and seemed to play with the air of a disappointed churchwarden for much of it.
With Dominik Szoboszlai, Ryan Gravenberch and Alexis Mac Allister, Liverpool have solid options in midfield - and they could yet sign PSG'S Bradley Barcola - but with a new manager and less than solid defensive foundations I couldn’t back them with stolen money at 6/1.
A new era, familiar expectations at 100/30
New manager Enzo Maresca joins a Manchester City side in transition.
He has big boots to fill in the wake of Pep Guardiola’s departure, but where there’s Erling Haaland, there’s hope, and plenty will be adding the Cityzens at 100/30 to their ante post season Accas.
Elliot Anderson is a fantastic signing, and the hope is he can gel in midfield with World Cup Golden Ball winner Rodri. If he can - with Haaland up top - they could be in business.
17/2 and 28/1: Big prices, little appeal in London
There has been money for Chelsea and Spurs this summer, but I just don’t see it.
Tottenham will promise glorious attacking football before discovering - usually around October - that defending corners is also part of the game.
They are 28/1 at the time of writing, and their start is fairly straightforward so those odds could contract, but there’s no way they are winning the league.
Chelsea are 17/2 but surely are not consistent enough for a title challenge, while you can get 9/1 on Manchester United rolling back the years.
The Rashford dilemma
The Red Devils look live underdogs this season, but what to do with Marcus Rashford?
Rashford spent last season on loan at Barcelona, scoring 14 goals and providing 14 assists in all competitions as the Catalan giants won La Liga.
If he comes back and his head is in the game, he could be a huge asset.
However, nobody is really sure what’s happening with the England international and Michael Carrick surely needs to make a call on this.
7/4 Arsenal the logical call
So, who wins it?
Logic says Arsenal because logic has paid for a lot of nice holidays over the last decade.
Coral have put their head above the parapet and go 7/4 (most firms are 6/4) about the Gunners retaining their title, and they look the most realistic winners.
Mikel Arteta - the Premier League’s runtiest little rooster - should be more relaxed this season having finally landed that elusive title success and their summer recruitment has been decent.

Toon to be relegated at 10/1?
Looking elsewhere in terms of the outrights, Newcastle United to be relegated at 10/1 is a price that grabs my attention.
The Toon kept just eight clean sheets in the Premier League last season and conceded 55 goals.
They’ve since sold their best players, Eddie Howe has bailed, and Bruno Guimaraes is joining Arsenal.
The Howe-Meister General will be missed. In the Premier League era, only the legendary Kevin Keegan (51.2%) had a better win percentage in the English top-flight for Newcastle than Wor Eddie (46.9%).
German boss Matthias Jaissle is set to replace Howe after winning a couple of Asian Champions League titles with Saudi side Al-Ahli.
But the Premier League is a far cry from the Saudi leagues, and the 38-year-old is a risky old appointment. The transfer window is still obviously open, but as things stand it may well get toxic on Tyneside this winter.
In theory there should be at least three teams worse than the Mags, but these are worrying times for the Toon Army and 10’s looks huge given how their squad has been decimated and the fact they have been handed a tough start in terms of the fixture list.
Suggested bet #1: Arsenal to win the Premier League at 7/4 (Coral)
Suggested bet #2: Newcastle United to be relegated at 10/1 (betway / Paddy Power)
