2025/26 Premier League relegation betting preview and suggested bets: Burnley to finish bottom; Brentford and Wolves offer value
The Premier League’s relegation battle has been disappointing in recent years, although this season could be different, with some good outright bets available.
The promoted clubs usually take up residence in the bottom three, but Leeds United, Burnley, and Sunderland have all splashed out to avoid being part of that statistic.
Elsewhere, Wolves and Brentford have been stripped of key players, and even West Ham’s name has been whispered in some circles.
Here, Sports News Blitz betting writer George Dempsey runs through the main contenders and where the betting value might be hiding.
Who is the favorite to be relegated from the Premier League?
Burnley are the bookmakers’ clear favorites at -340 (1.29). Sunderland follow at -280 (1.36), with Leeds next at +105 (2.05).
Burnley were promoted with 100 points and the best defensive record in the Championship.
That success was built on an overperformance against xG, which should level out, with James Trafford saving far more than expected.
Scott Parker has signed 13 players this summer, spending over $137 million. Many are in their prime, but the question is whether that overhaul can offset losing their best player.
Sunderland have spent heavily, bringing in experience with Granit Xhaka and adding young talent across the pitch.
The style under Régis Le Bris is high-energy and built on quick transitions. It could translate, but the gap in quality remains a concern for the market.
Leeds are priced as the most likely to survive. Daniel Farke has kept much of the promotion squad together and built one of the biggest, most physical XIs in the league.
They dominated the Championship, but survival will depend on whether that size and organisation can bring enough goals at this level.

Will an established team be relegated from the Premier League?
Wolverhampton Wanderers and Brentford are both +310 (4.10) to suffer relegation, while West Ham United are +550 (6.50).
Wolves are in the mix after losing Matheus Cunha and Rayan Aït-Nouri. Vítor Pereira’s turnaround last season was remarkable, but the squad is lighter on star quality this time around.
Brentford are also in danger. Thomas Frank has gone, and so have Bryan Mbeumo and Christian Nørgaard, with Yoane Wissa possibly heading for the exit too.
Rookie boss Keith Andrews will lean on set-piece strength, but the attack could lack punch if Wissa departs.
Graham Potter’s first half-season in London, meanwhile, brought defensive improvement for West Ham but little change in results.
The squad is weaker than a year ago and home form was poor, but Jarrod Bowen’s quality should keep them clear if things don’t spiral.

Best Premier League relegation bets for 2025/26
There’s no value in backing Burnley, Sunderland, or Leeds at current prices, with Leeds looking like the only one of the three with a realistic shot at staying up.
The better bets come from the established pack as Wolves and Brentford both look vulnerable, and the odds make them worth a punt.
Wolves overachieved last season, and losing Cunha and Aït-Nouri leaves a big hole in both attack and defence.
Pereira may have them organised, but the drop in quality and lack of creativity could catch up.
Brentford, on the other hand, have been gutted. Frank, Mbeumo, Nørgaard, and Mark Flekken are gone, while Wissa could still leave.
Rookie boss Andrews thus has a tough start and a thin attack.
Otherwise, for a bigger swing, Burnley to finish bottom has appeal.
Parker has attempted to rebuild but they’re set for a massive defensive drop off, and the team will likely lack goals.
Suggested bet: Burnley to finish bottom at +155 (2.55)
Suggested bet: Brentford to be relegated at +310 (4.10)
Suggested bet: Wolves to be relegated at +310 (4.10)
