When and where is Super Bowl LX taking place? Star players to watch; half-time show
The 60th edition of the Super Bowl is taking place on Sunday, February 8, bringing together the two best teams in the NFL for one of the biggest sporting events in the world.
From kick-off time and venue to key players and the half-time show, Sports News Blitz writer Jake Reed provides a simple guide for anyone wanting to dip their toes into ‘The Big Game’.
What is the Super Bowl?
The Super Bowl is the championship game of the National Football League (NFL) and brings the American football season to a close.
It is played between the winners of the league’s two conferences, the AFC and the NFC, following months of regular-season games and a series of playoffs.
Over the years, the Super Bowl has grown into one of the biggest annual events in world sport.
Last year’s game averaged a record 127.7 million viewers across television and streaming platforms in the United States.
The audience is so large that a 30-second advertising slot reportedly costs around $7 million.
The event is famous not only for what happens on the field, but also for its half-time show, which has featured global stars such as Beyoncé, Paul McCartney, Michael Jackson and Eminem.
When and where is Super Bowl 60 taking place?
Super Bowl 60 takes place on Sunday, February 8, at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California, home of the San Francisco 49ers.
As the event is held in the United States, it will be shown late on Sunday evening and into the early hours of Monday morning for viewers in the UK.
Kick-off is scheduled for 11:30pm UK time, with the half-time show expected around 1am.
The game will be broadcast free in the UK on Channel 5. Paid subscribers can also watch on Sky Sports Main Event and Sky Sports NFL, with build-up coverage from 10pm.

Which teams are playing?
This year’s Super Bowl will see the New England Patriots face off against the Seattle Seahawks, champions of their respective conferences.
The NFL is split into the AFC (American Football Conference) and the NFC (National Football Conference).
Simply put, the AFC is formed mostly of teams from the former AFL (American Football League), whereas the NFC is made up of teams from the original NFL, created after the 1970 merger with the AFL.
The Patriots won the AFC title by beating the Denver Broncos 10-7 in the AFC Championship game, marking a turnaround from last year’s 4-13 season to 14-3 this year.
This will be the Patriots’ 12th Super Bowl, the most in NFL history. A win would give them their seventh, also a record.
The Seahawks reached the Super Bowl by winning the NFC Championship game, defeating the Los Angeles Rams 31-27.
Seattle returns to the big game for the fourth time in franchise history and will be looking for its second Super Bowl title.
The two teams previously met in Super Bowl XLIX in 2015, where the Patriots defeated Seattle 28-24.
Who are the star players to watch, and who could be the Super Bowl MVP?
Every Super Bowl has players who can make or break the game. Most often, the quarterback or other offensive stars tend to have the biggest impact.
Here’s a guide to the key players to watch in Super Bowl 60 and the ones most likely to take home the coveted Super Bowl MVP award.
Quarterbacks
Drake Maye (Patriots) - At just 23, Maye has been one of the NFL’s biggest stars in 2025.
In his second year as a starter, he threw for over 4,300 yards, fourth most in the NFL, with a 72% completion rate, the highest among starting quarterbacks.
If the Patriots win, he is likely to be a Super Bowl MVP candidate.
Sam Darnold (Seahawks) - Darnold has enjoyed another strong season.
The 28-year-old struggled early in his career after being drafted third overall by the Jets in 2018, but had a solid year with Minnesota before Seattle picked him up, a move that has clearly paid off.
Key offensive stars
Jaxon Smith-Njigba (Seahawks) - One of the league’s top receivers, Smith-Njigba leads the NFL in receiving yards and can change games instantly.
TreVeyon Henderson (Patriots) - New England’s leading rusher, a consistent offensive threat.
Kenneth Walker II (Seahawks) - A physical and explosive running back who can break into long runs out of nowhere.
Stefon Diggs (Patriots) and Hunter Henry (Patriots) are also weapons that can create key plays in the biggest moments. They can’t fall under anyone’s radar.
Key defensive players
Marcus Jones (Patriots) - A versatile defender, capable of scoring; he had three touchdowns in the regular season, the most of any DB.
For Seattle, it is hard to pin any specific players down in a defensive unit that has been one of the strongest in the league.
However, linebackers Ernest Jones IV and DeMarcus Lawrence are two who could help the Seahawks get that Super Bowl win.
Who could be Super Bowl MVP?
The MVP is usually a quarterback. Sam Darnold is the most likely winner if Seattle prevails.
Drake Maye could take it if the Patriots pull off an upset, while Jaxon Smith-Njigba could also feature with a standout performance.

Who is performing at the Super Bowl half-time show?
The Super Bowl half-time show features a live concert during the break between the second and third quarters.
The half-time show has grown into a massive cultural event, almost bigger than the game itself.
Millions tune in each year not just for the football, but to see huge music stars perform on one of the world’s biggest stages.
For Super Bowl 60, Bad Bunny will headline at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, becoming the first solo Latino artist to do so.
His music mixes Latin trap and reggaeton with hip-hop and pop, delivering high-energy hits that have created a global fanbase
Super Bowl predictions
The Seattle Seahawks are favourites, thanks to their strong defence and balanced offence led by Sam Darnold.
With players like Smith-Njigba, they can create big plays and limit mistakes, giving them an edge over the Patriots.
New England, led by Drake Maye, have been impressive, but may struggle to break through Seattle’s defensive front.
If trends continue, it should be a close game.
