Rugby: England star Henry Pollock ends contract speculation; signs extension with Northampton Saints
Henry Pollock has ended speculation over his future by signing a new multi-year contract with Northampton Saints.
The England and British & Irish Lions back-rower was due to enter the final year of his previous agreement, but will remain at Franklin’s Gardens after committing to the Premiership champions.
The new deal is reportedly worth more than £400,000 per year.
Future no longer in doubt
Pollock’s future had been the subject of considerable interest after Matchroom Talent Agency founder Eddie Hearn described the youngster as a potential seven-figure player earlier this year.
The 21-year-old joined Matchroom in March and has since continued his rapid rise, helping Northampton win the Premiership while establishing himself in the England set-up.
He has now won 13 England caps and five British & Irish Lions caps.
Despite the attention surrounding his next move, Pollock has chosen to stay with the club where he began his senior career.

Pushed to be the best
“I’m massively happy to re-sign with Saints, my boyhood club,” Pollock said.
“I’m still young, and we’ve got a young squad with a brilliant group of lads. Some of my best mates are here, and every day everyone pushes each other to improve and be the best players and team we can be.”
Pollock also outlined his ambitions for the next stage of his career, with Northampton targeting further domestic and European success.
“I feel like we’re only just getting started. We won the PREM last season and we want to go again,” he added.
“Winning the Champions Cup is another huge ambition for us.”
Step forward
Phil Dowson believes keeping Pollock represents an important step for Northampton as they continue to build around their emerging talent.
“Keeping someone with both his talent and mindset is hugely important for the club,” the Saints director of rugby said.
Pollock’s new agreement keeps one of English rugby’s most promising young players at Northampton as the club prepares to defend its Premiership title.
