Premier League Darts Night 11: Preview, tips, and predictions

Tensions are heating up in the Premier League of Darts as the action moves into mainland Europe with the arrowsmiths facing off in Rotterdam.

Sports News Blitz’s Charlie Fawcett previews all the action.

Preview of the action

The Premier League roadshow continues on planet darts, with this week's action taking place in Rotterdam, completing a lifelong darting dream for Dutchman Gian van Veen.

GVV has featured in four finals in the Premier League already this season, and a good run on home soil could prove crucial for the 23-year-old, who currently sits four points off of the play-off places.

Van Veen’s first match sees him take on Luke Humphries, who also finds himself outside the hallowed top four places and is chasing vital points.

2nd-placed Luke Littler opens the action against Gerwyn Price.

Should the world number one win with Van Veen doing the same, there will be a rematch of the heated affair that took place in Manchester just two weeks ago, in which the pair had a “disagreement”.

Elsewhere, table topper Jonny Clayton aims to further cement his top four claims as he faces off against home favourite ‘Mighty’ Michael Van Gerwen, meanwhile Stephen Bunting faces cellar dweller Josh Rock.

Tips

As tonight is one of very few that takes place outside of the UK, the two Dutch players undoubtedly look appealing; and if I had to choose one, I would say Van Veen looks in good stead.

I think GVV to win the night at 10/1 would be my outright play, if I was to look in that market.

As for specific match betting, a Jonny Clayton, Stephen Bunting double at 3/1 has certainly caught my attention; given ‘The Ferret’ has been so successful in the campaign thus far and Bunting takes on the bottom player whilst desperate for points. This certainly feels rather sensible.

One final bet is a 4-fold I have pieced together at 14.2/1 for tonight that goes as follows:

- Littler most 180s (vs Price)

- Van Veen to win (vs Humphries)

- Clayton to win (vs Van Gerwen)

- Over 9.5 legs (Bunting vs Rock)

Predictions

As for a bold prediction, I wouldn’t be surprised if a shock was on the cards tonight in terms of our finalists.

It has been a very unpredictable league, and, therefore, I think home favourite Van Veen will face off against Bunting in tonight’s Rotterdam final.

I make this claim purely because Bunting is desperate for points, and should he make it far tonight, he finds himself well in the mix for the play-offs.

Therefore, this will see Littler only pick up the two points, meaning he cannot move to the top of the table this evening.

However, a bad night for Clayton would take him a point off the summit.
