Premier League betting tips: Title race twists await in City vs Arsenal, Cole Palmer’s Man Utd threat, and more Gameweek 33 betting tips

Ahoy hoi. I trust we all enjoyed the long Bank Holiday the other week. I did, save for being stung for £18 for fish and chips on Good Friday.

A fella getting served ahead of me in the fish shop queue said, “Are you sure this fish is cooked?” Geezer behind the counter said, “Yes, why?” To which the bloke replied, “Because it’s eat all my chips.”

Read on for a breakdown of the best bets from this weekend’s Premier League TV games from Sports News Blitz’s punting laureate - The Bookie Basher - including the seismic title clash between Manchester City and Arsenal on Sunday, April 19.

Brentford vs Fulham

Brentford vs Fulham is a West London derby that screams chinos and holidays to Lake Como.

There are some mega fixtures this weekend in the top flight, so the decision to televise this is a straight out of left field.

Rest assured, though, the football will be slick, the scarves will be tasteful, and someone in the crowd definitely has a Miniature Dachshund named Hugo.

If you’re betting on this game, don’t overthink it. Just back Brentford and thank me later. But do remember to thank me.

Suggested bet: Brentford to win at 11/10 (General)

Tottenham vs Brighton

Crazy stat time. Since January 1, 2025, PSG have beaten more Premier League teams at home than Spurs have.

Tottenham are bang in bother and need all three points here, having shortened further as odds-on favourites for Premier League relegation after Leeds' shock 2-1 win at Manchester United the other night.

With six games left, they are two points behind West Ham and three behind Nottingham Forest and frankly, desperate to avoid dropping outside the top flight for the first time in almost 50 years.

Robert De Zerbi’s reign got off to the worst possible start against Sunderland at the weekend, and this looks a tough ask as well.

Brighton have won five of their last six Premier League matches. The Seagulls are making a late charge for the European places and should be punted to pile further misery on Tottenham in Saturday’s tea-time kick-off.

Suggested bet: Brighton to win at 7/5 (General)

Chelsea vs Manchester United

Mickey Carrick - who has looked unflappable since taking over as boss in January with his designer haircut and stylish, low-maintenance 5 o'clock shadow beard - is facing a huge test here.

That loss to Leeds on Monday, April 13, was the first home defeat in his 11-game tenure.

It’s actually one win in four games, no clean sheet in five and a potential central defensive crisis (Harry Maguire definitely misses out) he’s facing ahead of this one.

Defensive crisis aside, there’s no depth in midfield. Casemiro's away in the summer, and the bang average Manuel Ugarte does not have Kobbie Mainoo's control on the ball, or his awareness.

I needed a Chelsea consolation goal for 605 sovs on Sunday, so don’t get me started on LinkedIn Liam and his woefully erratic team.

To be fair both teams are starting to falter at a crucial stage of the season, and while I think the 11/5 available on a Manchester United win is too big, I am not satisfied Carrick will be able to solve this particular defensive puzzle ahead of Saturday's late game so am going to lay a few shekels on Cole Palmer to score anytime at 8/5.

The England man's numbers don’t match his breakout season, but there will be goals at the Bridge, and my spider senses are telling me he will be right amongst it.

Suggested bet: Cole Palmer to score anytime at 8/5 (bet365)

Everton vs Liverpool

Since September 27, Liverpool have lost more Premier League games than they've won, a frankly scandalous statistic given I included them in several ante-post accas to win the league again last summer.

They are 18 points off leaders Arsenal, which is unforgivable really given the loot they spent in pre-season.

The Toffees’ first season at the Hill Dickinson Stadium has been decent, and they are right in the mix for European qualification with six games to play.

This is the first Merseyside derby at the new ground, and the place should be jumping.

The Reds have only kept two clean sheets in their last 11 matches, so ‘Over 3.5’ goals here is not the worst 2/1 shot you will see this weekend.

Suggested bet: Over 3.5 goals at 2/1 (bet365/ Hills / sky bet)

Manchester City vs Arsenal

No doubt that this is the biggest game of the weekend, nay the season, and it should be a cracker.

Arsenal have only won one of their last five matches, after losing three in their first 49 this season. Their a*ses are nipping at the wrong time - and nipping badly.

I feel for Arteta. One night they love you, one night they don’t. His team are 7/2 outsiders to win here, but even if they avoided defeat at the Etihad, then the title momentum would swing right back in their favour.

It’s a game of opinions, and I fancy City to land a huge blow by winning this.

Before Easter - with the Cityzens wobbling - the Gunners looked set to cruise to a first Premier League title since 2004.

In recent weeks, they’ve lost a League Cup final, been dumped out of the FA Cup by a Championship side, and risk being reeled in despite a nine-point advantage in the title race.

Might this be the biggest bottle job in the history of bottle jobs?

As Arteta is finding out, pressure can burst a pipe, or pressure can make a diamond. And just when the pressure has started to ramp up, Pep Guardiola's men appear to have found their groove.

When playing within their final 10 games of Premier League seasons, City have lost just one of their last 43 matches, winning 32 of them and drawing 10. That’s 2.47 points per game on average.

Personally, I think Man City to win & both teams to score at 11/4 is an absolute smash job.

Suggested bet: Manchester City to win & both teams to score at 11/4 (bet365/ sky bet)
