Premier League betting tips: Sunderland and Arsenal to draw, Erling Haaland to score, and more
Another week, another top-flight sacking. If there is such a thing as reincarnation, I’d love to come back as a Premier League manager.
I am not that fussed who, even a lavishly salaried flop would do me. It must be the only job in the world where you get a seven-figure payoff for being - well - sh**e…
Read on for a breakdown of the best bets from the Premier League's TV games from Sports News Blitz’s punting laureate - The Bookie Basher - including the small matter of Manchester City vs Liverpool on Sunday.
Tottenham Hotspur vs Manchester United
Manchester United are winless in their last seven meetings with Tottenham in all competitions.
Despite this stat, they start as marginal favourites with the bookies to win in north London, and that’s probably due to the fact that they are unbeaten in their last four matches.
A victory for either side in Saturday’s early kick-off will take them to second spot, at least for a few hours.
Can’t have Spurs at the prices, I'm afraid. They were bobbins last week against Chelsea and seem too cautious against the bigger teams.
That said, fair f***ing play. That was unreal from Micky van de Ven the other night. He turned the pitch into his own personal runway! Absolute cinema from the swaggering Dutchman.
In terms of how it ends this weekend, the Red Devils at 6/4 look a vibe.
Suggested bet: Manchester United to win at 6/4 (Betfred)

Sunderland vs Arsenal
Sunderland are winless in their last 15 Premier League games against Arsenal.
However, this isn’t any old Sunderland. We are just over a quarter of the way through the season, and the Black Cats are purring in the Champions League spots. That’s crazy insane.
Sunderland skipper Granit Xhaka has been immense - easily the best signing of the season - and now gets a chance to strut his stuff against his old club Arsenal.
People are going on like Arsenal winning the league is a done deal. I’m not so sure. In only 14 of the 33 Premier League seasons to date, the team tops at this stage have gone on to win the title.
Striker Viktor Gyokeres has likely suffered a hamstring injury and will be missing for a few weeks.
Sunderland are flying, so this is a big test for the Gunners on Wearside. Regis Le Bris has worked miracles to be fair.
Sunderland made 14 signings during a madcap summer, but it’s all fallen into place, and I reckon they can claim a draw against the leaders.
Suggested bet: Draw at 4/1 (bet365)
Chelsea vs Wolves
Wolves are bang in bother. No team with a record of two points after 10 games has ever stayed up in the Premier League era.
The Stella-guzzling Vitor Pereira worked miracles last term, but it’s all gone wonky this season, and Chelsea should hose up here.
Chelsea's problem isn't quality; it's consistency. They are a young squad, but should be too much for woeful Wolves at the Bridge.
Suggested bet: Chelsea to win & both teams to score at 21/10 (Boylesports)
Brentford vs Newcastle United
Newcastle have been poor a few times this season, especially away from HQ.
It is the nature of those away performances which are the most worrying. On my mam’s life, it is like watching a completely different team at times.
They were so bad against West Ham. It was complete chaos, dysfunctional mayhem all over the pitch.
The Toon need to find solutions quickly or Eddie Howe’s job could be on the line, a fact which was almost unthinkable just a few short months ago when they lifted the EFL Cup at Wembley.
Put simply, I cannot believe Brentford are 2/1 to win at home here. They say you never meet a poor bookie. But the odds compilers quoting Brentford at 2’ need drug testing.
I’m not arguing here. I’m just explaining why I’m right.
Suggested bet: Brentford to win at 2/1 (Paddy Power / skybet)

Manchester City vs Liverpool
Put simply, if Liverpool lose this, the league title will seem as unreachably distant as the farthest of Neptune’s moons.
Yet I’ll level with you. I am struggling to see any upside in backing Man City at odds on to win this.
A few years ago? Absolutely. They played pulsating, swaggering football and often scored thrilling wins from seemingly impossible situations. But there is an unmistakable frailty about them in 2025.
Arne Slot's side will also benefit from an extra day of rest, having edged Real Madrid 1-0 at Anfield in the Champions League on the night of Tuesday, November 4. Xabi Alonso’s team were a distant second on Tuesday, and the Reds were impressive.
However, I have done my conkers backing Liverpool this season at various points.
To quote the irascible Arthur Daley on this one "Have I not suffered enough? Have I not endured endless sleepless nights of concern? If you prick me, do I not spill claret?"
And I guess for City, where there is Erling Haaland, there is hope. 13 goals in 10 Premier League games thus far. He is a phenom. He is da soul snatcher. Weaknesses? Only the barnet when he wears his hair down.
100/30 to score first? Admit it, that’s right up your strasse?
Suggested bet: Haaland to score first at 100/30 (bet365 / skybet
