Premier League betting tips: Chelsea to win, Liverpool vs Man Utd to yield obvious results, and more

Is it just me, or do these international breaks now feel like they last longer than a Shawshank prison sentence?

Last Sunday was ridiculous. I was so bored without my fix of Premier League football that I ended up stripping the bed.

Can I also say that the people who make fitted sheets need to have a proper sit-down with the folk who make mattresses? Making the bed should not be like trying to put a swimming cap over a snooker table.

That aside, we are back, baby. Slack 6/1 Bet Builder winner for the column last time out, so let us see what this weekend brings.

Read on for a breakdown of the best bets from the Premier League's TV games from Sports News Blitz’s punting laureate - The Bookie Basher - including Liverpool’s crunch clash with Manchester United.

Nottingham Forest vs Chelsea

What’s happening at the City Ground man?

Nottingham Forest finished seventh in the Premier League last season, reached the FA Cup semis, and qualified for Europe. They are now very much in freefall and just 3/1 shots to be relegated.

Does Big Ange need points against Chelsea to keep his job? You would have to say yes with the Aussie heavyweight on very thin ice after failing to record a single win from any of his opening seven games in charge.

The Tricky Trees have lost four of their last five Premier League games (D1), failing to score in each of those losses. They’ve been awful.

Chelsea are a shade under evens to win Saturday’s early kick-off, and will form the cornerstone of most self-respecting Saturday accas.

Suggested bet: Chelsea to win and Under 4.5 goals at 7/5 (betway)

Fulham vs Arsenal

Arsenal are purring and are now odds on across the board to win the league.

Bit of a mad price considering it's October and more importantly how erratic their title challenges have been under Senor Arteta in recent seasons, but we get it.

The bookies are clearly factoring in Liverpool’s recent wobble.

Hope springs eternal for the Scousers and the rest of the chasing pack, however, given the fact that Arsenal have failed to win at Craven Cottage in each of their last two visits.

Arsenal expect Martin Ødegaard to miss another six weeks with the knee injury he sustained before the international break.

He’s a big miss, and while Arsenal start this as worthy favs, the draw at 16/5 looks a real runner given the Cottagers are unbeaten on their own patch so far with two wins and a draw.

Suggested bet: Draw at 16/5 (Coral / Ladbrokes)

Tottenham vs Aston Villa

Aston Villa may have turned a corner (unbeaten in their last four league games) after a woeful start to the campaign.

Thomas Frank's men currently find themselves in a good place too, third in the league and unbeaten in their last four.

Two form teams then, so not an easy game to call. Both managers have gorgeous hair, too, which must be factored in.

Tottenham might be a little short here at 11/10 IMVHO, and I actually like the 11/5 with bet365 that this game sees more than three goals.

Suggested bet: Over 3.5 goals at 11/5 (bet365)

Liverpool vs Manchester United

Human beings fall into two distinct categories: those who think Liverpool beat Manchester United this weekend, and those who are wrong.

However, having lost three on the spin prior to the international break, I am happy to concede that 8/13 is not much of a price.

You’d struggle to name a fixture bigger in English football than this one, and given the fact our last Bet Builder was full of high voltage charisma - and landed at 6/1 - let’s go there again.

Questions are being asked of Arne Slot's attack (and defence, to be fair) after a turbulent start to the season, so it will be interesting to see who gets the gig up top against the Red Devils.

It would be a seismic shock if Mohamed Salah didn’t start. The Egyptian King has bullied the Red Devils historically, with 16 goals (and six assists) against them in 17 appearances across the course of his Anfield career.

Casemiro played 90 minutes twice for Brazil during the international break, but the word around the campfire is that Ruben Amorim will keep the same side that beat Sunderland, and that means the 33-year-old should start.

He’s been booked twice and sent off once so far this season, and it’s not hard to imagine him getting carried away when the country's two most successful clubs go at it within the confines of Anfield's cauldron of chaos.

Suggested bet: Liverpool to win / Casemiro yellow card / Both team to score at 11/2 (bet365)
