Premier League betting tips: Chelsea and Man Utd to win, Tijjani Reijnders to impress again, and more

Ahoy hoi. How are we, compinches? Yours truly had a touch last weekend on a five-fold with a new bookie - who shall remain nameless. And what a carry on I had trying to withdraw with them.

It’s not been a problem depositing and losing acca after acca infrequently with said camel coat since the turn of the year, but as soon as I took one down and tried to withdraw £500, they wanted to know the far end of a fart. As well as the usual security questions, it was:

What is your daily deposit limit? What was the last bet you placed? How many games did John Lukic play for Leeds United (both spells)?

Anyway, I got weighed in, eventually. And I reckon there is gold in them there Premier League hills this weekend.

Read on for a breakdown of the best bets from the Premier League's TV games from Sports News Blitz’s inimitable punting maverick, the Bookie Basher.

West Ham vs Chelsea

It’s not a great time to be a West Ham fan.

Graham Potter is under immense pressure, and that opening day defeat at Sunderland was their ninth loss in 19 Premier League games under him.

They used to talk like he reinvented the game when he was Brighton boss, but his tenures at Chelsea and so far at West Ham can be safely filed under ‘little bit shambolic’.

The Blues have won their last three against the Hammers, so it’s no surprise to see them chalked up at odds on (4/6 best price) for this.

Expectations for Chelsea are sky high after their FIFA Club World Cup triumph, and I fancy them to cover a one-goal handicap here.

Suggested bet: Chelsea (-1) to win at 9/5 (Hills / Paddy Power)

Manchester City vs Tottenham

Spurs have won two of their last four Premier League games at the Etihad and should be full of confidence and swagger ahead of Saturday’s early kick-off.

Don’t sleep on Manchester City, though. They seem to have been overlooked by most in the ante-post outright previews I have read predicting a 2025/26 Premier League winner, but that impressive 4-0 win at Wolves on Matchday One means the Cityzens have now taken 43 points from their 20 games in 2025 - more than any other side.

Tijjani Reijnders seemed to be absolutely everywhere against Wolves, and at the heart of everything that was good about Man City’s performance.

He had 82 touches and made 22 passes in the attacking third.

With this in mind, 11/2 for Over 0.5 assists looks juicy in a game where Pep Guardiola’s mob should have plenty of possession.

Suggested bet: Reijnders Over 0.5 assists at 11/2 (bet365)

Arsenal vs Leeds United

Both teams started with 1-0 wins, but in terms of performance, their collective displays could not have been more different.

Leeds dominated against Everton but needed a late, controversial penalty to seal the deal.

Arsenal were quite fortunate to sneak a 1-0 win at Old Trafford in a game where they struggled to control the tempo, relying on some brilliant saves by David Raya to preserve their clean sheet.

The Gunners boast a fabulous record against promoted sides, winning their last 12 matches against Premier League new boys, and the bookies fancy this should be plain sailing in North London.

Leeds might surprise a few this season, but they do look a bit light up top, and if Gabriel and William Saliba are in the same type of mood as they were at Old Trafford, the hosts can win this to nil.

On the occasions I watched him, Viktor Gyökeres was moving like Robocop in pre-season, and didn’t look much more fluid against Manchester United on Sunday.

However, there’s a player in there somewhere, and I feel he is going to be a good bit of business for Arsenal in the long term.

Suggested bet: Arsenal to win to nil at 6/5 (Betway)

Everton vs Brighton

The Toon fans are up in arms about Alexander Isak must have short memories.

Anthony Gordon literally missed three days of training for Everton a few years back to force his Newcastle move.

Good player Gordon. Despite looking like an absolute ringer for Mr Logic out of the Viz. I digress.

Can the Toffees mark their first Premier League match at the Hill Dickinson Stadium with a win?

Goals were a big problem last term, with only the three relegated sides scoring fewer.

However, the creative guile of Jack Grealish and the strong work rate, aerial ability and goal-scoring instincts of Thierno Barry should help.

Over 2.5 goals and both teams to score looks kinky at 11/8.

As an aside, I went to the casino on Sunday with a lad who is a terrible gambler and owes fortunes. It’s got so bad he goes by the name of Johnny Debt.

Suggested bet: Both Teams to Score & Over 2.5 Goals at 11/8 (Betway)

Fulham vs Manchester United

Ruben Amorim suffered his fifteenth defeat in his 28th Premier League game as Manchester United manager (W7 D6).

This is the fastest a manager has reached 15 defeats in the competition, without taking charge of a newly promoted team in that period.

The record stretches all the way back to Paul Hart with Portsmouth in 2009. Mad ting.

Amorim is certainly getting a bit of time, but for Manchester United fans, I wonder whether the process knows they are trusting it?

The Red Devils have enjoyed this fixture in recent years. Indeed, Manchester United have won on their last eight visits to Craven Cottage.

As stated, Amorim’s mob were decent against Arsenal and unlucky to lose in the end.

The attitude and tempo seemed much better than last season, and you can just tell Matheus Cunha is going to smash it on the bigger stage.

Don't tell everyone, but I am going to get stuck right into the away win here at 6/5.

Suggested bet: Manchester United win at 6/5 (Coral)
