Golf betting tips: Tommy Fleetwood edging closer to maiden PGA win, Scottie Scheffler hard to ignore
The PGA Tour season is officially drawing to a close, with 30 of the tour's best all vying to lay claim to the TOUR Championship.
Reigning champion Scottie Scheffler will be a hard man to beat, but he is certainly not the only name in contention for the title this week.
Hosted at East Lake Golf Club, the Championship event will favour accuracy over distance, with tree-lined fairways ready to punish any wayward drives.
Players will be able to use the firm Zorro Zoysia fairways to generate roll, meaning that distance will not be a deciding factor.
Finally, tricky run-offs around the greens mean that bad iron play will be exposed this weekend, and we should see the elite ball strikers among the field quickly swarm the top of the leaderboard.
Here, Sports News Blitz’s golf betting writer Sam Condy points to his four favourite picks ahead of the PGA Tour curtain closer.
Scottie Scheffler
I normally don’t like tipping Scheffler, simply due to flat odds, but he is impossible to ignore this week.
The American has come out on top in two of his last three appearances and will be a force to be reckoned with this weekend.
East Lake requires every aspect of a player's game to be on point, and there's no player that I can be more confident in getting the job done than Scheffler.
Best odds: 13/8 (Win Only) with Bet365
Tommy Fleetwood
The only player who has been close to matching Scheffler's consistency of late is Tommy Fleetwood.
The Brit is still chasing his maiden PGA Tour victory, and he seems to be edging ever closer to making his dreams a reality.
Two top-five finishes in the FedEx playoffs will have only bolstered his confidence, and I think we could be in for another stunning performance from the 34-year-old.

Victor Hovland
Hovland appears to be finally rediscovering his swing, with a fantastic performance last week, which saw him snatch seventh place, while ranking second in SG Approach and fifth in SG Tee to Green.
With East Lake long proving a happy hunting ground for Hovland - with a win in 2023, and a fourth-place finish in 2021.
The stars seem to be aligning for the man who knows what it takes to win this weekend.
It may be too little too late for the Norwegian; however, a shining performance is still on the cards, especially given his success around here in the past.
Best odds: 4/1 (Top 5) with Betfred
Sam Burns
Another player who seems to be returning to his best, Sam Burns, seems to have peaked at just the right time and is making a strong case for a Ryder Cup inclusion.
Burns clinched a fourth-place finish at the BMW Championship and has not missed a cut since April.
Within this period, he has carded eight top-20 efforts, with four finishes inside the top 10.
Keegan Bradley will pick six wildcards for the Ryder Cup shortly after the Tour Championship, so another top performance will make Burns a hard man to skim over.
Best odds: 4/1 (Top 5) with Betfred
