Padel news: Pure Padel secures planning approval as work begins on first London-region club

Construction is underway on Pure Padel’s first London-region club after the operator secured planning permission to transform a former warehouse in Croydon into a premium indoor padel destination.

The club is expected to welcome its first players in early December, with building work scheduled for completion by 30 November.

Set to become the operator’s 10th UK club, it will strengthen Pure Padel’s presence in the South East alongside its Lightwater venue in Surrey.

Pure Padel Croydon

Previously announced as Pure Padel Coulsdon, the site will open as Pure Padel Croydon to reflect its wider geographical catchment.

Alongside its six indoor courts, the club will feature a café and licensed bar, pro shop, changing facilities, social areas and a co-working lounge, giving visitors space to meet, work and relax before or after playing.

One of the site’s defining strengths is its transport connectivity.

The club is around a 10-minute walk from Coulsdon South station, which offers direct rail services to London Victoria and St Pancras International, with journeys to Victoria taking under 40 minutes.

No membership fee required

This puts the venue within reach of players across South London and Surrey, as well as those travelling from central London.

Courts will be bookable through the Playtomic app on a pay-to-play basis, with no membership fee required.

Sammy Arora, Founder and Managing Director of Pure Padel, said: “Getting the green light and starting work on our first London-region club is a huge moment for Pure Padel.

“We’ve seen the appetite for padel grow across the South East, and we’re excited to bring a proper indoor facility to this part of London.

“This is about much more than putting six courts into a warehouse.

“We want to create a club where people can come for a game, meet friends, have a coffee or catch up on work, and feel part of a community.

“We can’t wait to welcome everyone through the doors in December.”

Free sessions

To mark the opening, Pure Padel plans to offer free introductory sessions for local residents.

Dates, times and booking details are expected to be announced in November.

The club also plans to offer expert-led coaching for all abilities, social sessions, large corporate group bookings and private parties, with sponsorship available to businesses.
