NFL Week 2 - Super Bowl LIX rematch as the Kansas City Chiefs take on the Philadelphia Eagles: How to watch, analysis and more
If Week 1 wasn’t entertaining enough, Week 2 of the NFL season is almost upon us, and it throws an absolute dime of a matchup for fans across the world.
The Philadelphia Eagles will travel to Arrowhead Stadium for a rematch of Super Bowl LIX against the Kansas City Chiefs.
Last year's AFC and NFC champions take each other on in a blockbuster Week 2 matchup that sees two-time league MVP Mahomes take on last year's Super Bowl MVP, Jalen Hurts.
Here, Sports News Blitz’s NFL writer Finley Young takes a look at the game of the weekend.
Chiefs’ ‘fallen’ kingdom
The Chiefs come into this game off the back of a 27-21 loss to the Los Angeles Chargers in Sao Paulo.
Andy Reid’s side looked jet-lagged and sluggish in their season opener, and will want to avoid going 0-2 at the start of the new season.
If it wasn’t for the heroics of superstar “Houdini” throwing Quarterback, Patrick Mahomes, the Chargers might’ve run away with that game.
And unfortunately for the Chiefs, the bad news doesn’t end there.

Mahomes magic...again?
The Chiefs’ top two receivers are Rashee Rice and Xavier Worthy. Both are currently unavailable as we head into the game versus Philly this weekend.
Rice had 79 catches for 938 yards and seven TDs as a rookie in 2023 and was the Chiefs’ standout receiver at the beginning of 2024 before season-ending injuries.
Rice, who was due to be back this year, is currently serving a six-game suspension for causing a car crash this offseason.
Xavier Worthy, who is famous for the fastest 40-yard dash (he ran a 4.21 at the 2024 combine), left the game early in Week 1 after he reportedly suffered a dislocated shoulder.
That leaves Mahomes with only Hollywood Brown and JuJu Smith-Schuster as his prime receiver targets for the game against the Eagles.
Brown and Schuster didn’t have the most impressive performances against the Chargers in Week 1, and Chiefs supporters will be hoping that some more Mahomes magic can help save them against this formidable Eagles defence.
Fly Eagles, fly
The Eagles, however, started their 2025 NFL campaign brilliantly after their nail-biting victory against the Dallas Cowboys in the season opener.
Despite it being a closer game than most predicted, it was still business as usual for the Eagles as they showed their class against a motivated Cowboys side.
Star Quarterback, Jalen Hurts, was impressive once again, completing 19-23 attempts for 152 yards whilst also rushing for 62 yards and two touchdowns.
The Eagles’ strong defence also carried on where it left off, limiting the talents of Prescott, Lamb and Pickens to no touchdowns.
Repeat of Super Bowl LIX again?
In Super Bowl 59, the Philadelphia Eagles dismantled the Chiefs in a dominant 40-22 display, ending the Chiefs’ chances of a famous three-peat.
However, both sides have experienced a lot of change this offseason and come into this weekend's game much different to that of last year's Super Bowl.
In Week 1, the Chiefs looked like a team whose dynasty had finally passed them by. It was a flat and uninspiring performance from Andy Reid's team.
The Eagles also looked slightly weaker than the dominant run-heavy football team we saw last year.
It’s understandable, three of their top defensive players were snatched away in the offseason, and they are still adapting to new offensive coordinator, Kevin Patullo.
To be or not to be…
The question is - can the Chiefs bounce back from their Week 1 disappointment and make a statement by beating last year's Super Bowl winners?
OR
Can the Eagles lay down a marker and dismantle the Chiefs again, just as they did in Super Bowl 59?
We will have to wait and see, but one thing I'm certain of is I can’t wait for another brilliant week of football.
