ITV horse racing tips and best bets for Warwick, Kempton and Fairyhouse on Saturday, January 10

A new betting year is upon us and Sport News Blitz’s horse racing tipster Jeff Mexico has emerged from his self-imposed festive exile in the bins behind the BetFred in Penzance.

We are told these bins were an upgrade on the ones by Ladbrokes in Truro, which had a bit too much ‘bin juice’ for Jeff’s liking.

ITV have served up a whopping 10 races for Jeff to get his grubby mitts on this Saturday afternoon, so forgive us if he starts to lose interest after about seven tips. He’s easily distracted.

There’s five from Warwick, including a Grade 2 and 3, four from Kempton, which also has a Grade 2, and finally a Grade 2 from over the water in Fairyhouse.

Jeff Mexico’s racing tips

After a highly profitable year on the track, I now have enough money to buy a new set of underpants – my first since 2013.

Three white jockey ‘masculine support’ briefs from Poundland, as I find they really show the stains after just a couple of outings. We all know this is incredibly alluring to the opposite sex, especially by candlelight. Which helps as I can’t afford electricity.

My last set of tips came ahead of the Boxing Day meetings and hopefully you all took my predictions to heart. Especially the 7/1 winner of the biggest race of the day at Kempton, where The Jukebox Man took the honours in the King George. Thank me later, people.

Actually I had a bloody good Boxing Day all told – backing five winners in the six races ITV were showing, plus three places for good measure.

Can my run of good luck continue to 2026? There’s a right old hefty mix bag this Saturday, so let’s see how we get on.

13:15 (Warwick) – Warwick Castle Handicap Chase

Main tip: Moon Phases

Ran a solid second in a recent handicap over a similar trip at Kelso, racing prominently and only headed late. Not without experience over fences and looks one of the more reliable types in the field.

Each-way tip: Pepe Le Moko

Finished second last time out at Ludlow when coming from off the pace and staying on. Has raced well around this sort of trip and has the stamina, so should have enough to make the frame.

13:30 (Kempton) – Coral Juvenile Hurdle

Main tip: Precious Man

Looks like the class act in the race and ran very well on his British debut when second in a Grade 2 Juvenile Hurdle at Cheltenham. Good success over hurdles in France previously, and that experience will give him the edge in a big field of fairly unexposed juveniles. Drop back into a Class 3 juvenile hurdle should allow the quality to tell, especially with Harry Skelton on board.

Each-way tip: Pourquoi Pas Papa

Finished second on his stable debut for Paul Nicholls when stepped up to hurdles. Nicholls doesn’t run horses at Kempton lightly, and his juveniles have a good record of stepping up from a first run to second/third in races like this.

13:40 (Fairyhouse) – Tote Dan & Joan Moore Handicap Chase (Grade 3)

Main tip: Touch Me Not

Has run well on his last two starts, including a second at Fairyhouse over this trip. Has previously won at a decent level and has been placed at Grade 2 level in the Fortria Chase. He  should have enough to score in this tricky staying-type handicap.

Each-way tip: Western Diego

Shaped well when third over this course and distance last time out, and that outing will have sharpened him up for this contest. Running from a slightly lower mark than some of the top-weighted horses which might prove beneficial in a big, open handicap like this.

13:52 (Warwick) – Hampton Novices’ Chase (Grade 2)

Main tip: Wade Out

Arrives with two wins from three chase starts, including a comfortable success in a Listed novice at Cheltenham, where he stayed on strongly to win despite a few errors. Unbeaten over fences and with strong staying form, plus Sean Bowen in the seat will give him the edge.

Each-way tip: Doyen Quest

Has been knocking on the door in good novice company this season, including a solid second in a Grade 2 at Sandown over 3m, where he jumped well and stayed on. Often races prominently and sets a strong gallop, which can force rivals into a test of stamina. Also handles Warwick’s fences well.

14:05 (Kempton) – Coral Handicap Chase

Main tip: Welcom To Cartries

Arrives here on the back of a narrow victory in a competitive handicap chase at Sandown. While his latest win came over 3m, the way he travelled strongly and pressed on up the hill suggests that the 3-mile trip at Kempton will suit.

Each-way tip: Soul Icon

Has shown ability at this level before, including a win over fences at Kempton in a graded handicap chase earlier in his career. His only run this season saw him unseat his rider at Wincanton when held up at the rear, but prior to that he was running consistently off similar marks.

14:25 (Warwick) – William Hill Handicap Hurdle

Main tip: Premier

Won his first handicap hurdle at Taunton last month, coming through strongly and justifying favourite support. As a relatively lightly raced younger horse compared to several older rivals, he still has upward scope, especially off a mark that looks fair given his recent improvement.

Each-way tip: Kelijoe

Finally broke his losing sequence with a convincing Doncaster handicap win in December, running on well late to score by a clear margin. Rises only 7lb for that win, which looks fair. Low mileage and improving profile will help.

14:40 (Kempton) – Silviniaco Conti Chase (Grade 2)

Main tip: Kalif Du Berlais

Has shown real quality over fences, including multiple strong performances in novice company. His early chasing form included wins and a high cruising speed that often suits Kempton’s track. He’s younger and likely improving compared with several older rivals in this small, select field.

Each-way tip: Edwarstone

A veteran with real G1 yardstick form, but still runs consistent races in top company. He was third in a good handicap chase last time out and his career record suggests that he’s one of the most reliable performers in this field. Off a slightly lower weight than the younger types and is a solid jumper.

14:55 (Warwick) – William Hill Half A Million Classic Handicap Chase (Grade 3)

Main tip: Mr Vango

Finished a narrow second in a hot handicap chase at Aintree over about 3m 2f on his seasonal reappearance. This race’s extreme trip plays right into his strengths as he’s a genuine stayer and the step up in distance compared to some of these rivals should help him keep going late. Has won multiple chases and his overall profile is one of a reliable improver.

Each-way tip: Val Dancer

Stays well and has performed respectably in deep-ground handicap chases, including third at Aintree last time out in a big staying handicap.

15:17 (Kempton) – Coral Lanzarote Hurdle (Handicap Hurdle)

Main tip: A Pai De Nom

Arrives in excellent form, having won his two most recent handicap hurdle starts, most recently scoring at Leicester over a similar trip. Ticks the boxes for consistency, form and recent wins.

Each-way tip: Lanesborough

Was last seen winning impressively at Doncaster over around 2m, powering clear to win by 8½ lengths. That win came over a slightly shorter trip, and he shaped like a horse who will relish this 2m 5f test.

15:32 (Warwick) – Pertemps Network Handicap Hurdle

Main tip: Lud’or

A consistent improver for Tom Symonds, with a win and two places from his last four starts, including a good third in a competitive handicap at Newbury. Runs off a competitive mark around 139 and can stay the trip.

Each-way tip: Tranquil Sea

Decent staying handicap hurdles and finished close enough to suggest he’s competitive here. Also stays well.

Good luck everyone, and remember – never gamble in your pants.
