India’s Senior National Badminton Championships in Vijayawada – What to Expect

The 87th National Badminton Championship is about to start soon. This year, Vijayawada is going to host the big event.

India’s Senior National Badminton Championship will last seven days, and it will include some amazing players. Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu revealed the official poster for the championship not too long ago. 

People who like to engage in badminton betting will have lots of fun with this event, and they may even win some money with the right predictions. Gamblers can expect some exciting things during the tournament. 

When Will the National Badminton Championship Take Place?

The Yonex-Sunrise 87th Senior National Badminton Championships will take place between December 22 and 28, 2025. It will unfold in Vijayawada, marking a premiere in 10 years. 

State Sports Minister, Mandipalli Ramprasad Reddy, as well as Sports Authority of Andhra Pradesh Chairman Ravi Naidu, both invited the Chief Minister to inaugurate this championship. All the arrangements made by the Sports Department, SAP, and Municipal Administration were revealed to him. 

The championship will unfold at the Chennupati Ramakotaiah Municipal Corporation (CHRMC) Indoor Stadium in Patamata.

The event, which is set to take place over the course of seven days, has been assigned to the Andhra Pradesh Badminton Association by the Badminton Association of India.

Who Will Participate in the Tournament?

The thing fans are most excited about is the list of participants. As expected, this championship will feature some of the best athletes in the world. 

International stars like Unnati Hooda, Lakshya Sen, Tanvi Sharma, Mithun, Sameer Verma, HS Prannoy, Ayush Shetty, and Kidambi Srikanth will be seen at the event. Olympic medalist PV Sindhu will make an appearance as well. 

Many other international and national players will join the championship. The competition will be tight, and supporters will have a blast watching all the players working toward the top spot. Tournament winners will receive Rs 60 lakh in total as prize money, which is the highest in any domestic tournament in the country. 

Unveiling of the Logo

The poster and logo for the Yonex-Sunrise 87th Senior National Badminton Championships were also unveiled. This was done by Kidambi Srikanth, the Deputy Collector and badminton star, Andhra Pradesh Badminton Association (APBA) General Secretary, Dr P Ankamma Chowdary, Sports Authority of Andhra Pradesh (SAAP) Chairman, Animini Ravi Naidu, as well as Vijayawada MP Kesineni Sivanath alias Chinni.

The unveiling took place at a Vijayawada hotel.

The Importance of National-Level Tournaments 

MP Kesineni Sivanath spoke about how important it is to host competitions at the national level across the state. 

Moreover, the MP also applauded the badminton players of the state for making the area more widely recognized. According to him, Deputy CM K Pawan Kalyan and Chief Minister N Chandrabadu Naidu both want to improve sports infrastructure. 

The plans so far are to organize National Games, as well as launch a Sports University. With these, they will also establish a large stadium in the area. 

He also noted that the Andhra Cricket Association collaborates with the Sports Authority of Andhra Pradesh to promote games and sports. 

What Preparations Have Been Made So Far?

Officials already told the CM that important national-level players will participate in the event. This is why many preparatory measures have been taken already. 

According to the Chief Minister, the event will be organized in a way to make an impact on players and viewers. During the meeting for the event, the MLA of Vijayawada East was present as well. He is also the President of the Badminton Association of Andhra Pradesh.

Allocating Land for the New Academy

SAP Chairman Ravi Naidu spoke about how in undivided Andhra Pradesh, Pullela Gopichand, the badminton legend, was given land to establish his academy. This is one of the things that led to the creation of various top players. 

According to Naidu, the government also gave some land to Gopichand in Amaravati for a new academy. They even performed the foundation ceremony for it. According to him, the State also offered 3 percent job reservations for athletes. In the recent DSC, 421 posts were filled under the sports quota.

Then, he declared that the government will also give its support to Kidambi Srikanth so he can establish his Tirupati academy. 

Ravi Naidu then said that people who love sports should definitely go to the National Championship. 

The Senior National Badminton Championships are just around the corner. Fans who want to bet should get ready, as the event will include some of the biggest stars in badminton. Set to take place between December 22 and 28, the tournament has a big prize in store for the winners, so it’s guaranteed that the competition will be intense.
