GB and Ireland favourites for 2025 Shergar Cup at Ascot
Great Britain and Ireland, captained by Hollie Doyle, are 11/10 favourites with William Hill to win Saturday’s Shergar Cup at Ascot for the first time since 2022.
Europe are next in the market at 15/8 to secure their first win in the Shergar Cup since 2014, with the Rest Of The World (5/1) and competition debutants Asia (10/1) at bigger prices.
Doyle won the Silver Saddle for recording the most points in 2023, and is favourite to do so again this year at 5/2, while Joanna Mason – also representing Great Britain and Ireland – is 4/1 second favourite, ahead of the Rest Of The World’s Hugh Bowman at 5/1.
Spokesperson for William Hill, Lee Phelps, said: “Ascot’s Shergar Cup is always a unique spectacle as one of the few racing events to include a team element, and we think we could be set for a home success this year, with team Great Britain and Ireland favourites at 11/10 to emerge victorious.
“Hollie Doyle captains GB and Ireland and is 5/2 to land the Silver Saddle, while team-mate Joanna Mason is 4/1 second favourite in the market.
“Local riders, with their experience of Ascot, may hold an advantage, but there is still an array of riding talent from all over the world on show and team Europe are 15/8 to secure their first Shergar Cup success in over 10 years, followed by the Rest Of The World at 5/1, and Asia at 10/1.”
