F1 news: Isack Hadjar confirmed as Max Verstappen’s Red Bull team-mate for 2027
Red Bull have confirmed that Isack Hadjar will remain alongside Max Verstappen for the 2027 Formula 1 season.
The Frenchman joined Red Bull at the start of the 2026 campaign after an impressive rookie season with Racing Bulls, earning a promotion to the senior team after just one year on the F1 grid.
Hadjar has now secured his place for another season, with Red Bull confirming the news ahead of his return at this weekend’s Azerbaijan Grand Prix, writes Sports News Blitz sub-editor Nicole Powell.
Hadjar earns another season with Red Bull
The 21-year-old has impressed during his first season alongside Verstappen, including claiming his first F1 podium at the Monaco Grand Prix.
Hadjar had been enjoying a strong run before suffering a wrist injury during the summer break, forcing him to miss the Dutch, Italian and Spanish Grands Prix.
Liam Lawson stepped in for the three races, while Yuki Tsunoda moved back to Racing Bulls.
Hadjar has since made a full recovery and will return to the Red Bull cockpit in Baku, where he will once again partner Verstappen.
Red Bull team principal Laurent Mekies said the team were "very excited" to continue their journey with Hadjar.
"Since joining us at the start of the year, he has been superb on and off track, especially considering this is only his second Formula 1 season, which made extending his contract an easy decision," Mekies said.
"From the very beginning, Isack immersed himself in the team, spending every minute at the factory with his engineers to develop the car, always eager to learn and improve.
"You could see from that first weekend in Melbourne that he handled the step up with remarkable composure and had earned his place in this seat.
"The period since his injury has been a difficult one for Isack, but this extension is a testament to how much we believe in him and we can't wait to see him back out on track.
"We still have a lot we want to achieve this season, but it's a great feeling to know that the drivers, engineers and everyone back at the factory are all heading in the same direction, committed and together."

Red Bull settle their 2027 line-up
The decision means Red Bull will head into the 2027 season with a familiar driver pairing.
Verstappen remains the team's leading driver, while Hadjar will get another full season to develop alongside the four-time world champion.
His return also means Lawson will move back to Racing Bulls after scoring points in two of the three races he contested as Verstappen's temporary team-mate.
Hadjar's return comes at an important point in the 2026 season, with the Azerbaijan Grand Prix beginning a triple-header that will continue in Malaysia [Bahrain GP] and Singapore.
The Baku race will take place on Saturday, September 26, rather than the usual Sunday schedule.
