India switch to T20I action against West Indies in Lucknow, while South Africa begin a three-match Test series against Australia in Durban.

Here, Sports News Blitz cricket betting expert Himanshu Sharma breaks down the best bets, value plays, and key betting angles ahead of this week’s action.

India vs West Indies, 1st T20I

Date and time: Tuesday, October 6 at 2:30 PM BST

Venue: Ekana Cricket Stadium, Lucknow

India look to build on their recent ODI success while West Indies should feel more at home in the shortest format.

India’s T20I squad looks well-rounded despite the absence of bowling spearhead Jasprit Bumrah.

Run-scoring has been relatively easy at this venue in recent IPL matches, and Lucknow's conditions could favour the batters again.

That makes a first-inning total of 200 or more particularly interesting.

India are overwhelming favourites at 1.22, with West Indies priced at 4.15.

Despite India’s stronger squad on paper, West Indies should not be underestimated in the shortest format.

The toss could also have a significant influence, so it is worth considering before picking a match-winner. Ten of the last 15 IPL matches at this venue were won by the team batting second, suggesting chasing sides could hold an advantage.

Kuldeep Yadav could be particularly effective against a West Indies batting line-up that has shown vulnerability against quality spin. He took seven wickets across the three ODIs and could again be among India’s leading wicket-takers.

At the other end, Shai Hope comes into the T20I series in good touch and is worth considering in the player markets.

Abhishek Sharma is another obvious option, especially on a surface where the batters could dominate.

Best bets:

  • Abhishek Sharma to be India’s top batter

  • Shai Hope to be West Indies’ top batter

  • Kuldeep Yadav to be India’s top bowler

  • First innings total over 200 runs

South Africa vs Australia, 1st Test

Date and time: Friday, October 9 at 8:30 AM BST

Venue: Kingsmead, Durban

Australia arrive in Durban at the top of the 2025-27 World Test Championship standings, with defending champions South Africa sitting second.

The Proteas will also take confidence from their five-wicket victory over Australia in the 2025 WTC Final at Lord’s.

South Africa also won the recent ODI series 2-1, although Australia claimed the final match. However, the switch to Test cricket presents a very different challenge.

The first ODI at Kingsmead offered plenty of assistance to the slower bowlers, with South Africa’s spinners taking six wickets as Australia were bowled out for 230.

If the Durban pitch lives up to its recent reputation, Maharaj could be one of the most interesting player-market options. The Durban-born spinner knows the conditions better than most and could prove difficult for Australia’s batters to handle.

Meanwhile, Australia have their own world-class spinner in Nathan Lyon.

Australia are slight favourites at 1.80, while the hosts are priced at 1.95. With both sides closely matched on paper and conditions likely to play a major role, the match-winner market offers limited value before the toss.

Best bets:

  • Keshav Maharaj to be South Africa’s top bowler

  • Nathan Lyon to be Australia’s top bowler

  • Steve Smith to be Australia’s top batter
