Champions League betting tips: PSG vs Inter Milan – Martínez to score, Dumfries to be carded

The Champions League final is upon us, with Paris Saint-Germain and Inter Milan set to do battle at the Allianz Arena in Munich on Saturday.

As the curtain call to an enthralling campaign, the showpiece event will be sure to provide us with a final dose of elation and despair.

The French and Italian giants are both worthy contenders, it must be said, but only one team can walk away with that illustrious trophy and the eternal glory it represents.

Here, Sports News Blitz tipster Ethan Pitts selects four bets that will help you cash in with the bookies one last time this season.

Lautaro Martínez to score at 9/4 (William Hill)

It has been a tough end to the season for Martínez, Inter’s all-time leading Champions League scorer, as an injury suffered against Barcelona in the semi-finals ruled him out of the remainder of the league campaign.

However, the Argentine has been medically cleared to compete on Saturday, which is nothing less than a huge boost for the Nerazzurri.

Martínez is one of the game's great strikers and will be looking to lead Inter to their first Champions League crown since 2010 under Jose Mourinho.

His record in this year’s competition is phenomenal, making him the undisputed protagonist in the Italian side’s success story.

And with eight goals in his last seven UCL matches, it is hard not to back Martínez to score again at such generous odds.

Denzel Dumfries to be carded at 13/5 (Unibet)

If Inter are to have any chance of coming away from Munich with a win, they will have to limit Khvicha Kvaratskhelia by any means possible.

The Georgian is one of the deadliest wingers in Europe and, since his £58.8 million move from Napoli in January, has helped transform PSG into one of Europe’s scariest attacking forces.

Kvaratskhelia is particularly adept at drawing fouls, including 10 in his last four UCL matches.

Dumfries, on the other hand, is an extremely aggressive full-back, one who can at times be caught out of position due to his excellent attacking ability.

The Dutch international has moreover committed 19 fouls in this year’s Champions League and I can only see that tally going up come Saturday.

Indeed, the last time these two faced each other, Dumfries committed four fouls and finished the game with a yellow card.

Therefore, at a generous price of 13/5, I'm taking Dumfries to be carded in the final.

PSG to have over 5.5 shots on target at 4/5 (Bet365)

PSG have been a joy to watch in this year’s Champions League, and a lot of that joy has come from the fact that they are dangerous from all angles.

Whether it’s Kvaratskhelia and Désiré Doué on the wing or Achraf Hakimi and Nuno Mendes making darting runs into the opposition box, the Parisians boast a never-ending threat to the opposition goal.

In terms of shots on target, PSG have managed 5.5 or more in 13 of 16 Champions League games this season.

When you factor in that Inter have conceded six or more shots on target in their last four UCL matches, this looks like outstanding value.

As a result, I am backing PSG to have six or more shots on target.

PSG to have over 17.5 tackles at 5/6 (Bet365)

Given that it is the Champions League final, you can assume that it will be a tenacious match with both teams putting everything on the line.

Notably, under Luis Enrique, PSG are no longer a team of luxury players who do not put themselves about.

The ethos has definitively changed from a team that does not press to a team that does not stop pressing, and this reflects in their tackling statistics.

In PSG’s last five Champions League matches, they have accumulated a total of 125 tackles – that works out to a staggering 25 tackles per game.

If PSG are to overcome Inter on Saturday, they are going to need the same level of hunger to win the ball back that we have seen throughout their European campaign.

Come Saturday, I will be taking PSG to have 18 or more tackles.
