2026/27 EFL Away Fan Price Index: Championship fans paying 11% more than the Premier League away price cap, with QPR the worst offenders and Wrexham among the cheapest

Away fans in the Championship are paying an average of 11% more than the £30 Premier League away price cap per ticket when following their clubs on the road this season, as revealed by research from OLBG.

The same research highlighted that QPR have the most expensive away tickets in the EFL, charging visiting fans up to £41 for a ticket to Loftus Road.

The R’s are closely followed by Southampton who, at £40, are the only other EFL team charging away fans £40 or more per ticket.

In fact, 23 of the EFL’s 24 most expensive away tickets are sold by clubs in the Championship.

At the other end of the spectrum, League Two Crawley Town have the cheapest away tickets in the 72. Travelling fans pay up to just £22 for a visit to the Broadfield Stadium.

The EFL Away Fan Price Index compares the price of tickets for away fans at every club in the Championship, League One and League Two. The clubs are then ranked in descending order depending on how much they charge visiting fans.

The clubs are then ranked against the other 72 teams within the EFL and also within their own respective league to show how they compare. When a club has a tiered pricing structure for away fans, the most expensive ticket was included within the study to show how much fans could be paying when visiting the stadium.

Championship: QPR and Southampton are the only clubs charging away fans up to £40 or more per ticket, with Derby the only ones below £30

The most expensive adult ticket available to away fans in the EFL is offered to visitors at QPR. Depending on the game, the R’s charge visitors up to £41 for a ticket in the away end at Loftus Road.

That ticket price equates to £15 – or 58% – more expensive than tickets in the away end at Pride Park to see your team play Derby County.

Priced at £26, the Rams have cheaper away tickets than 48 clubs in the EFL including all Championship clubs.

Aside from Derby, there are four other clubs in the second tier whose maximum ticket price for visiting fans does not go over £30.

Preston North End, Charlton Athletic, West Ham United and Burnley all charge exactly £30 to away fans.

Wrexham, meanwhile, rank equal-14th for away ticket pricing in the second tier, charging visitors £32 at the SToK Cae Ras.

The average price of an away ticket for fans in the Championship, meanwhile, comes to £33.33 – £3.33 more than the away ticket cap in the Premier League.

League One: Sheffield Wednesday are the most expensive club to visit with £34 away tickets, while eight teams charge £30 and over

Sheffield Wednesday would rank equal-ninth in the Championship away ticket table, charging visitors up to £34 to visit Hillsborough.

Elsewhere across the third tier, Leicester City, AFC Wimbledon, Plymouth Argyle, Mansfield Town, Leyton Orient, Oxford United and Bromley are all charging visitors up to £30.

But at the other end of things, both Burton Albion and Doncaster Rovers share the spot for the cheapest tickets with both clubs charging away fans a maximum of £25 – only seven clubs in the entire EFL are cheaper.

There are also another six teams in League One – Bradford City (£26), Huddersfield Town (£26), Reading (£26), Notts County (£26), Barnsley (£27) and Cambridge United (£27) – charging visitors £27 or less, putting them among the 28 cheapest EFL clubs to visit as an away fan.

League Two: Oldham’s away tickets are among cheapest in the EFL, while Chesterfield and Crewe’s are more expensive than over half of the division above

At just £22 for their most expensive away ticket, Crawley Town are the EFL’s cheapest club to travel to as a visiting fan. The Red Devils’ away ticket price makes them at least £1 cheaper than any other League Two club, £3 cheaper than any League One side and £4 cheaper than anyone in the Championship.

Salford City, Oldham Athletic and Tranmere Rovers, meanwhile, can all be considered cheap for away fans, with a ticket in any of their respective away ends priced at £23.

Exeter City, meanwhile, are at the sharpest end of away pricing in League Two, charging fans up to £29 in the away end.

Barnet, Crewe Alexandra and Walsall also sit at the punchiest end of the pricing table, with all three charging away fans up to £28 for a fourth-tier fixture.
