Tyson Fury vs Anthony Joshua: Press conference review and fight prediction

The long-awaited fight between Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury is finally happening after years in the making, writes Sports News Blitz’s Jonathon House.

Fans in the United Kingdom and across the world have waited years to see these two fighters face each other.

Both are considered among the best heavyweights of their generation, and this fight has the potential to be one of the biggest events in British boxing history.

The fight will take place on December 11 in Cardiff. There were rumours beforehand that it would take place in America, but despite all the speculation, it will now be held in Cardiff.

The event is being organised by Eddie Hearn's Matchroom Boxing and Frank Warren's Queensberry Promotions, with backing from a Saudi Arabian consortium.

Press conference

The press conference was interesting, to say the least.

The first question Max Kellerman asked Fury was about the sparring session he had with Joshua several years ago.

Fury previously praised Joshua in an interview, but more recently, he has been less complimentary towards him.

Fury's response to Max was: "I sparred a lot of amateur boxers in my time. I've been very complimentary to every single one of them. AJ was there in the ring; he knows what happened."

Black eye banter

Fury then mentioned that Joshua had previously said anyone who could knock him down would get his Rolex.

Fury claimed that he left the building wearing a Rolex, to which Joshua responded: "And a black eye."

Fury then replied that he had had a thousand black eyes in the past, so it was nothing new to him.

This exchange added some humour to the press conference, while also highlighting the rivalry between the two fighters.

Respect for Joshua

Fury was also asked what he thought when he saw Joshua become world champion and knock out Wladimir Klitschko in 2017, two years after Fury had beaten Klitschko and vacated his titles in 2015.

Fury responded by saying that, at the time Joshua became world champion, he was getting drunk every week and was focused on his own problems.

He then went on to praise Joshua, saying that he respects what he has achieved.

He acknowledged that Joshua is a two-time heavyweight world champion and an Olympic gold medallist, showing that there is still a level of respect between the two fighters despite their rivalry.

When Joshua was asked how he felt ahead of the fight, he said that he felt good and fresh and was excited about the opportunity.

His response suggested that he was looking forward to the challenge and was focused on the fight ahead.

Title on the line

The WBA world title will be on the line, as Fury mentioned during the press conference.

This gives both fighters the opportunity to become a three-time heavyweight world champion, adding even more importance to an already significant fight.

One thing is for sure: this fight will be one of the biggest events in British boxing history.

Although it is a fight that should have happened years ago, it remains a huge occasion for boxing fans.

The press conference has added to the anticipation, and fans will finally get to see these two heavyweights face each other.

Fight prediction: Fury to win by unanimous decision

It is difficult to predict the outcome of this fight, as both fighters have their own strengths and weaknesses.

For me, however, it comes down to which fighter has more left in the tank.

Both have experienced success at the highest level, but their recent performances will be an important factor in deciding who comes out on top.

Based on their last few fights, I would say Fury has more left to give.

His experience and ability to adapt during fights could also play an important role, particularly if the fight goes the distance.

My prediction is that Fury will win by unanimous decision.
