Tottenham news: Roberto De Zerbi the favourite to replace Thomas Frank at Spurs after Marseille exit

Bookmakers Skybet have priced Roberto De Zerbi at 10/11 to replace Thomas Frank in the Tottenham dugout after the Dane’s sacking.

Frank was relieved of his duties in North London following a disastrous run of form that has left Spurs struggling in 16th place on the Premier League table, five points shy of the relegation zone.

De Zerbi, meanwhile, recently parted ways with Marseille after a tough period, a 5-0 thrashing at the hands of Paris Saint-Germain seemingly the final nail in the coffin.

Despite that, the Italian guided Marseille to a commendable second-place finish in Ligue 1 last term and has a proven track record in the Premier League with Brighton, where he spent just under two years and was positively regarded.

Now, his well-timed availability has induced speculation around the managerial vacancy at Tottenham, although a host of big names are in the mix too.

Here, Sports News Blitz writer Finn Littlewood takes a look at the favourites to replace Frank as Spurs head coach.

Heitinga to take over as interim?

Former Ajax boss John Heitinga is the favourite alongside De Zerbi and has been placed at 10/11 odds to become Tottenham’s next manager.

For Heitinga, it would likely be an interim role, with one eye on the North London derby in less than two weeks.

The 42-year-old was appointed as Frank’s assistant manager just four weeks ago, having previously been a part of Liverpool’s and West Ham’s coaching staff.

Robbie Keane is also in the running as a 15/2 candidate to make the jump to Premier League football.

The Irishman is doing brilliantly at Hungarian side Ferencvaros, leading them to the top of their domestic league and into the play-offs of the Europa League.

Pochettino to make a spectacular return?

Ex-Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino is 5/1 to return to Tottenham.

The Argentinian is currently preparing for a home World Cup as head coach of the USA after poor stints with Chelsea and PSG.

Pochettino is widely viewed as Spurs’ most successful manager of the last decade, reaching the Champions League final in 2019.

His initial spell with the club turned sour after disagreements with the board and a rumoured falling out with previous chairman Daniel Levy.

Somewhat surprisingly, Crystal Palace boss Oliver Glasner has been given long odds of 9/1 to get the Spurs job despite the Austrian’s announcement that he will be leaving Selhurst Park at the end of the season.

Other managers who have appeared with long odds in the betting market include Fulham’s Marco Silva, Bournemouth’s Andoni Iraola, Ipswich Town’s Kieran McKenna, and the recently sacked Ruben Amorim (Man Utd) and Enzo Maresca (Chelsea).
