
Horse racing news: World Pool returns at York Ebor Festival, features IFHA’s top-ranked 2024 race
World Pool will return to action for the first three days of York’s Ebor Festival, which features last year’s IFHA top-ranked race, the G1 International Stakes, as well as two other Group 1 contests.
And for the first time this year, two races on Hopeful Stakes Day at Newmarket will join York’s action on Nunthorpe Stakes Day to form a nine-race composite World Pool card.

Hong Kong rider Angus Chung will take his first ride in the UK this evening aboard the Craig Benton–trained Dreamcrafter at Windsor Racecourse (7:35pm).
He arrived in the country recently and will be based with Ralph Beckett during his three-week stay.

Horse racing news: Hong Kong 2024/25 racing turnover up 3% year-on-year to HK$138.85 billion
Total racing wagering turnover for the 2024/25 Hong Kong season was HK$138.85 billion (approx. £13.2b), representing a 3.0% increase on the 2023/24 season and an encouraging return to growth after the 4.5% decline last season.
Racing fans enjoyed 88 race meetings over the course of the 2024/25 Hong Kong racing season, including seven summer series fixtures, comprising 847 Hong Kong races and 393 overseas simulcast races.

Horse racing news: Epsom Derby – World Pool turnover up year-on-year to £5.1m
Saturday’s Derby at Epsom resulted in turnover on World Pool bet types of HK$54,403,320 (approx. £5.1m), up on 2024’s figure of HK$51,760,276 (approx. £4.9m).
Won by the Aidan O’Brien–trained Lambourn, who returned at 10.35 for World Pool customers, the 18-runner Classic showed up positively with international punters.

World Pool will return for all eight races on Epsom’s Derby Stakes Day as well as being in operation for four races from Greyville’s Gold Challenge Day in South Africa on Saturday 7 June.
Last year’s G1 Derby Stakes was won emphatically by the Aidan O’Brien–trained City Of Troy under a vintage ride from World Pool ambassador Ryan Moore, who partners Delacroix this time around.
