Sponsorship news: Horsforth Hawks Reds seal promotion to West Yorkshire Division 4

The Horsforth Hawks Reds rounders team have ended their West Yorkshire Rounders League Division 5 season in style, securing promotion to Division 4 after a memorable campaign of hard work and energy.

In their first season partnered with Sports News Blitz, the Hawks won six of eight matches, scoring an impressive 143 rounders in total.

The results speak for themselves – and this year showcased a team of determined Hawks, each contributing in their own way.

Some brought the power with big hits and some turned matches with sharp fielding and quick reactions … but all offered the teamwork and commitment that created the success.

With promotion now secured, the Hawks are ready to take on Division 4 next season – and they’ll do it with the same unity and energy that got them here.

Landmark season

Earlier in the campaign, the Hawks Reds secured their first-ever rounders tournament victory, going unbeaten throughout the day and edging out the Batley Ninjettes in a tense final at Horsforth Sports Club.

The tournament, which took place on Saturday, June 21, saw the Reds dominate the group stages with wins over Colton Comets, the Mighty Wildcats, and EKTA Eagles.

Their consistent performances set the tone early, earning them a spot in the semi-finals where they overcame a strong Idle Red Kites side.

The final against the Batley Ninjettes proved to be the toughest test of the day.

With a big local crowd watching and both sides battling hard, the match was finely balanced, with just half a rounder separating the teams after the first innings.

In the end, with only six balls left in the game, Horsforth needed half a rounder to take the win.

Under pressure, they delivered! An excellent rounder (followed by a few extra) sealed the match 14-11.5, sparking celebrations in the team and amongst the spectators gathered.

The timing couldn’t have been better too, as the win came on the same day as the Horsforth Sports Club Music Festival, giving players and supporters the perfect way to celebrate with the local community.

It was a landmark day for the team, marking not just a tournament win, but a clear step forward in the team’s development.

The Hawks Reds now head into the rest of the summer with a trophy and promotion to celebrate – then it will soon be time to start thinking about plans for the Division 4 campaign.
