Rugby Super League news: A roundup of the Super League Magic Weekend
Magic Weekend lived up to its name once again as fans were treated to drama, dominance, and dazzling tries across two action-packed days of Super League action.
Here's your full roundup from a weekend that shook up the table and reminded everyone why rugby league never disappoints, brought to you by Sports News Blitz’s Elliot Ward.
Saturday’s Magic
The opening game showed us a glimpse into the weekend's action where Leigh found themselves on the winning side moving them up the table with a 26-24 win against Catalans Dragons.
The Catalans started the strongest, going up by a two-try scoreline but the Dragons' defence was no match for Leigh’s Attack.
As the game progressed Leigh's attack got better and scored two to come back then powered on scoring another two to win the game giving Leigh a win on neutral ground.
Hull KR maintain the top spot and are showing early signs of winning the League Leaders Shield after winning nine of their ten games.
They dismantled bottom-of-the-league Salford Red Devils 54-0 with a debut try in the Super League for youngster Noah Booth who added to an amazing performance from KR.
A vintage Leeds Rhinos performance secured the win over top 6 rivals St Helens with Riley Lumb opening the scoring with an amazingly worked team try.
Rhinos climb the table to 4th place adding to their good start this Super League season.
After Saturday's games, the attendance was 31,294 in total.
Sunday’s Magic
Kicking off Sunday's fixtures was the Huddersfield Giants who came out on top against Hull FC with a narrow 12-10 victory.
Hull FC had a man sent off in Liam Knight giving Huddersfield the advantage which they clearly used in the victory.
Much like Huddersfield, Wigan came out and won 22-20 in a close encounter against the Warrington Wolves in, what I think, was the most entertaining game of the weekend.
Warrington’s manager, Sam Burgess, will feel hard done by as his squad pushed the best team in the world to the wire.
Rounding off the weekend was a highly anticipated Yorkshire derby between Wakefield Trinity and Castleford Tigers, once again Wakefield came out on top as they defeated the Tigers 32-8.
The game was excellent and arguably has the try of the weekend with Caius Faatili going half the length of the field to score between the posts.
After Sunday's games a record-breaking attendance of 32,862 was recorded which was justified by the quality of rugby shown on the day.
