Rugby league tips: Predictions and suggested bets for Super League round nine
The league leaders' shield chase is well and truly alive - Wigan face a tough test away at Warrington, Wakefield travel to St Helens and much more.
With a mixed bag of results last week, the play-off chase is still at large for half of the teams in the league, as well as that top spot.
The favourites are Leeds Rhinos but Wigan, Warrington and Wakefield are right behind them and will have something to say about that.
Here, Sports News Blitz writer Elliot Ward takes a look at upcoming fixtures, highlighting the best betting angles and offering some choice tips.
Leigh Leopards vs Huddersfield Giants
Leigh performed very well last week away in York, and looked back to near their best with injured players returning at a crucial point of the season.
Huddersfield Giants conceded 56 points to league leaders Leeds Rhinos last week, which is not a good sign for this coming week.
With that being said I think Leigh will get over the line this week and edge out Huddersfield Giants.
Suggested bet: Anytime tryscorer Lachlan Lam at 17/5 (Unibet)

York Knights vs Toulouse Olympique
York failed to win last week at the hands of Leigh - however they performed well in my opinion.
York have not been excellent this season but also have not been terrible which will give them some hope in weeks to come.
Toulouse lost 46-0 last week to Hull KR - to not score a point is embarrassing but not surprising as they are the most out-of-form team in the division.
Suggested bet: Scott Galeano to score and York to win at 7/4 (William Hill)
Warrington Wolves vs Wigan Warriors
Warrington lost surprisingly to Catalans 38-22, an outcome not many people could have predicted as Warrington went into the game heavy favourites.
Wigan played Castleford Tigers at home and also lost 24-14 - a huge result for the Tigers but a very poor showing from Wigan.
With both teams coming off the back of poor results I think this game will come down to quality which I think Wigan do exceed Warrington in.
Suggested bet: Wigan to win at 23/20 (BetMGM)
Castleford Tigers vs Hull FC
Castleford were good last week at Wigan, however it shows how bad Wigan were - not how good Castleford are.
Hull FC lost 24-14 at St Helens, a result which was not a shock and I don’t think the result will dampen Hull FC’s confidence.
Castleford are arguably the worst team in the league and Hull FC are bang average and will most likely end up mid table.
Suggested bet: Hull FC Half-time/ Full-time win at 7/5 (Paddypower)

Leeds Rhinos vs Catalans Dragons
The Rhinos continued their winning ways beating Huddersfield Giants last week - Leeds sit top of the table and I don’t think this will change after this weekend.
Catalans pulled off a shock win against Warrington last week, they played very well.
If they can bring that performance into this week they will give Leeds a really tough time.
Suggested bet: anytime try scorer Brodie Croft at 15/8 (Betfred)
Bradford Bulls vs Hull KR
Bradford lost again last week, this time in the hands of high-flying Wakefield Trinity, and the Bulls did not look very inspiring.
Hull KR won to nil last weekend and looked very good, shades of last year creeped in which is exciting for the fans and the players alike.
Suggested bet: Hull KR winning margin of 15 points at 1/14 (Betway)
St Helens vs Wakefield Trinity
A huge game at the top of the league with both teams having been in amazing form over the past few weeks.
St Helens won away at Hull FC 24-14, Wakefield won at home 52-12 to Bradford Bulls.
This game is going to be incredibly tight and could honestly go either way, however with the home advantage in my opinion St Helens could edge this game.
Suggested bet: Wakefield Trinity to be winning at half-time and St Helens to win at full-time at 7/1 (Betfred)
