Premier League Darts night 15 preview and betting tips

The race for the play-offs continues to heat up in the Premier League of Darts, with just two nights of regular season action remaining. It really is now or never for the remaining arrowsmiths to bag a play-off place.

Sports News Blitz’s Charlie Fawcett previews all the action ahead of a huge night of darts in Birmingham.

Preview

Despite Luke Littler picking up the trophy in Leeds, it was a night to savour for Luke Humphries, who picked up three vital points to move himself into the top four.

He did, however, lose 6-5 to Littler in the final, meaning he just missed out on what would have been a monumental nightly win in his home city.

This week Humphries kicks off the night with a quarter final clash with Stephen Bunting, who currently sits seventh in the table.

Based on recent form, Cool-Hand will expect to see off the Bullet to set up a semi-final clash with either Jonny Clayton or Luke Littler, both of whom have already sealed their place in the play-offs.

As for the other players in the hunt, Michael Van Gerwen and Gerwyn Price face off against each other, with both players in need of the points.

However, it has to be said that, given Luke Humphries’ tricky semi-final, MVG has an opportunity to give his play-off hopes a real boost on Thursday evening.

As for Gian Van Veen, he currently finds himself five points adrift of fourth place.

Given there are only two league phase nights remaining, a nightly win is likely required to keep him in the hunt.

The Giant kicks off his night against cellar-dweller Josh Rock, before facing a potentially huge clash against Michael Van Gerwen in the semi-finals, so hopes have not evaporated just yet.

The other quarter final fixture sees the top two face off, as Luke Littler continues his surge towards winning the league phase, as well as looking to make it four nightly wins on the spin.

Tips

As for an outright play, I do believe this week it will be one of the players who need it most, and I am once again going to side with Luke Humphries.

Admittedly, he faces a tricky semi-final task, but I simply cannot envisage a play-offs scenario that the defending champ is not involved in.

Therefore, I think he must win the night on Thursday, because that is what champions do.

Night 15 outright winner: Luke Humphries - 4/1

I have also picked a four-fold for the quarter finals, and I have gone with the following:

Josh Rock vs Gian Van Veen: Over 9.5 legs

I do think that GVV will get the job done.

However, after picking up a Euro tour title at the weekend, I think Josh Rock will be full of confidence and will push the tie all the way to a thrilling conclusion.

Gerwyn Price vs Michael Van Gerwen: Match result - Van Gerwen

I just cannot help but feel that this will be the night where Van Gerwen gives himself a real boost.

Humphries may be my main nightly winner, but I think a good run this week will keep MVG in the hunt coming into the final league phase night.

Therefore, I think he gets the job done against Gezzy.

Luke Humphries vs Stephen Bunting: Over 9.5 legs

I expect the trend to continue in which Stephen Bunting gets right to the cusp of victory, but ultimately gets nothing to show for it.

It has happened time and time again this campaign, including last week against Luke Humphries, as the Bullet led 5-3 before ultimately losing it.

I suspect we will see the same again, and that a thriller will be edged by Cool-Hand.

Jonny Clayton vs Luke Littler: Highest Checkout - Littler

It can sometimes be a struggle to find value in a Luke Littler match, and on this occasion I have gone with Luke Littler to hit the highest checkout.

Purely because of how often Littler produces big shots in clutch moments.

Since the young darting sensation is hell-bent on beating his own records, I suspect he will be well up for the challenge of picking up a fourth consecutive nightly win.

Four-fold acca: 11.3/1

I have also gone for a result treble, as I think Van Veen, Humphries, and Van Gerwen will all reach the semi-finals on Thursday evening.

This would then make for a thrilling showdown for the play-off places next week in Sheffield, where the night is played in league order, meaning fourth will play fifth.

Result treble: Van Veen, Humphries, and Van Gerwen all to win - 3.83/1
