Premier League analysis: Five talking points from Crystal Palace v Leeds United
A chaotic encounter at Selhurst Park saw Crystal Palace and Leeds United play out a frustrating 0-0 draw.
There was a lack of goals during the game, but there certainly wasn’t a lack of drama during the match.
From big opportunities missed and more refereeing controversy, Sports News Blitz’s Tyler Cooke picks five talking points from the Premier League encounter.
Calvert-Lewin’s costly miss
The biggest moment of the match and one that could have changed the season, came just before half-time when Dominic Calvert-Lewin stepped up from the penalty spot - and missed.
Leeds started the game well and was arguably the better side pressing Palace in their own half, so when Leeds was awarded a penalty because of a handball inside the box from Will Hughes, it seemed like a golden chance to take control.
Many would have backed the Leeds number nine to score but instead, Calvert-Lewin dragged his effort wide, continuing a worrying dip in form in front of goal.

Refereeing chaos takes centre stage
Leeds defender Gabriel Gudmundsson was sent off in bizarre fashion after receiving a second yellow card - only for referee Thomas Bramall to initially forget it was his second booking.
After protests from Palace players, the decision was corrected and Gudmundsson was dismissed, but this raises questions about the refereeing standards in the Premier League.
In a high-stake Premier League clash such as this one, such errors can have massive consequences, with it being so tight down at the bottom, one wrong mistake could cost a team's season.
Leeds’ defensive resilience with 10 men
Despite going down to 10 men before half-time, Leeds produced a performance full of grit and determination.
Manager Daniel Farke even described his players as “heroes” after the match, highlighting just how significant this point could be in their survival push.
Palace dominated possession and had every opportunity to score, but Leeds limited them to very few clear-cut chances, showing impressive organisation under pressure and In the context of the relegation battle, this could prove to be a massive result.
The point helps Leeds more than Palace
At full-time, it felt like a result that suited Leeds far more than the hosts.
Leeds remain firmly in the relegation battle, but picking up a point away from home, especially after playing half the match with 10 men.
It keeps them within touching distance of safety and builds momentum heading into the run-in.
For Palace, however, this was a missed opportunity, with mid-table security within reach, and the club wanting to end the season on a high, failing to beat a 10-man side at home will feel like two points dropped.

Palace lack of cutting edge
While Leeds deserve credit defensively, Crystal Palace will be deeply frustrated with their attacking display.
Palace had a disallowed goal and a number of half-chances, but nothing clinical enough to secure three points.
They lacked creativity and composure in the final third, failing to register a single shot on target.
Manager Oliver Glasner criticised his side’s decision-making after the game, and it’s clear that Palace’s attacking inconsistency remains a major issue heading into the final stretch of the season.
