Oliver Bearman’s breakout F1 season points him to a Ferrari future

This season, 20-year-old Oliver Bearman has quietly become one of the most talked-about young drivers in Formula 1.

Driving for Haas F1 Team in his rookie year, he secured a career-best fourth place at the Mexico City Grand Prix.

Could Bearman be headed to Ferrari soon?

That result triggered a spike in conversations about his future - especially at Scuderia Ferrari.

On the latest episode of The F1 Show, long-time commentator and former driver Martin Brundle made a bold claim:

“The moment that there's a seat at Ferrari for whatever reason, then Bearman should be in it as far as I'm concerned. I think he's outstanding and he's learning fast, and he's making the most of his opportunity.”

Bearman’s journey has all the right markers. He is part of Ferrari’s Driver Academy, made his Grand Prix debut in a Ferrari, filling in for Carlos Sainz at the 2024 Saudi Arabian GP, and has handled pressure beyond his years.

In Mexico 2025, he not only took his best result, he did so while battling heavy hitters and managing strategy in the high-altitude chaos of the race.

Eyes on the future, feet on the ground

But as exciting as all this is, there are limitations.

Ferrari currently has stable line-ups with Charles Leclerc and Lewis Hamilton under contract through at least 2026.

Also, while Bearman has had a number of standout moments, he still needs to show consistency across the season.

For now, Bearman’s focus is on doing his job at Haas, scoring points, and building his reputation. If he keeps this up, the talk of a Ferrari seat won’t just be speculation but planning.

His performance in Mexico was the kind of statement young drivers dream of. If he keeps delivering, the next time Ferrari look for a driver to step in, Bearman won’t just be on the list - he could be the name on top.
