NFL betting tips: Philadelphia Eagles soar; Kansas City Chiefs dynasty crumbling

Sports News Blitz have added Graeme Bailey to their NFL writing roster.

Here, he looks at the runners in contention for Super Bowl glory and the odds available for consideration.

Eagles spread their wings

We’re just beyond the midway point of the NFL season and we are already witnessing the reigning champions, the Philadelphia Eagles, spread their wings.

They are short price favourites to retain the Super Bowl crown at 9/2 with Sky Bet at present.

The Eagles are maturing into a potential dynasty, but what of the other dynasty we are living through? Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs.

The Chiefs missed out on a three-peat last season when they succumbed to the Eagles in New Orleans, but the reigning three-time AFC Champions were still regarded as the main threat to Philadelphia.

The bookmakers believed that at Super Bowl 60 in San Francisco, we would see a repeat.

However, following their latest loss to the Denver Broncos on Sunday which puts them at 5-5 for the season.

The Chiefs now sit at 9/2 to just about make it.

Chiefs belief

If you’ve held onto belief in Mahomes to get revenge over Jalen Hurts in February, that line sits at 30/1.

However, the Super Bowl should not really be in the thinking of any Chiefs backer at this point, as there is a real danger that they might not even make the play-offs for the first time since 2018 - back when Mahomes’ predecessor Alex Smith was under centre.

Bookmakers feel the Chiefs will make it, offering 1/2, at the same price to that of the Jacksonville Jaguars.

At best, the Chiefs are set for a wildcard berth, with the AFC West almost a done deal with Denver standing pretty on 9-2 under Sean Peyton.

While the Los Angeles Chargers have a two-game lead on them at 7-4.

The Chiefs are currently ninth in the AFC play-off picture – two places off a place in the post-season.

If you’ve maintained belief in Mahomes and Andy Reid to clinch a third Super Bowl, you can back them at 9/1 to win it again.
