NFL analysis: Five of the best offensive players so far this season

Matt Stafford and Jaxon Smith-Njigba

The NFL have seen numerous players show their true potential on the field this season, making it a truly enjoyable campaign to watch.

With some top stars missing out due to injury, five offensive weapons have shown themselves to be simply the best as we hit Gameweek 11 this weekend.

Here, Sports News Blitz writer Luke Maddison takes you through the five best offensive players so far in the NFL this season.

Jaxon Smith-Njigba

It goes without saying that Jaxon Smith-Njigba has been one of, if not, the best offensive player in the NFL this season.

The Seattle Seahawks man has emerged himself as a top wide receiver in the league, where he continues to break boundaries week in, week out.

Smith-Njigba was the 20th pick in the 2023 NFL draft, picked by the Seahawks.

Two years later, he became the first player in franchise history to gain four straight 100-yard games.

With eight games left of the regular season, he is also currently tied with hall-of-famer Steve Largent for the most 100-yard games in a season (6) for the Seahawks.

The 23-year-old currently sits on 1,041 receiving yards already this season, which is the highest across the whole league.

These impressive stats currently puts him on pace to make history and break Calvin Johnson’s record of the most receiving yards in a single season (1,964).

His elite route-running and ability to produce against double coverage has allowed the youngster to become a true superstar in the NFL this campaign.

Drake Maye

Coming off another successful victory on Sunday, Drake Maye showed yet again why he has consistently been one of the best offensive players in the league this year.

The quarterback has pushed the New England Patriots into a magnificent 8-2 record, with the Pats looking to gain the AFC #1 seed heading into the playoffs.

Maye has the third most passing yards across the NFL and is also tied third-best for passing touchdowns with 19.

Patriots Head Coach Mike Vrabel spoke on Maye prior to the 2025 season on why he was a big reason he took the Patriots job.

“I see a young, athletic, talented full-of-potential player,” He said, Via the Boston Globe. “Excited to build this team around (him) and a large part of the reason why I wanted to be here.”

The young quarterback has a serious set of expertise that has propelled himself into the current favorite for the league’s MVP.

This would make Maye the first Patriot to win the MVP award since Tom Brady in 2017.

Jonathan Taylor

When it comes to running backs, Jonathan Taylor is literally running away from his fellow compadres across the NFL so far this campaign.

Taylor has been a shining star for the Indianapolis Colts and continues to put up numbers every single gameweek.

He currently leads the league with 1,139 rushing yards, this is 200 more than Bills’ James Cook who sits second for most rushing yards.

Alongside that, Taylor is first in the league for carries (189) and has the most rushing touchdowns with 15.

It has been very rare that the running back hasn’t shown up in a game for the Colts, with him even scoring three touchdowns in the same game four times already this season.

His stats from last year are set to be smashed and if he can refrain from getting injured, it will be a season to remember for the exceptional athlete.

Matthew Stafford

The Los Angeles Rams offense has been so fun to watch in the NFL this season, winning seven games and only losing two.

Many of these great moments have come from franchise quarterback Matthew Stafford, who is currently having one of the best seasons of his career.

Stafford has the most passing touchdowns in the NFL with 25, with him also throwing only two interceptions across nine games.

These stats prove how the Rams quarterback can take care of the football, but can also throw dimes to his offensive weapons like Davante Adams and Puka Nacua.

The 37-year-old has played 17 seasons in the NFL, his pure knowledge and experience of the league has also put him as favorite for the MVP alongside fellow QB Drake Maye.

It goes without saying that the veteran will have his eyes on gaining another Super Bowl ring in February, just like he did at Super Bowl LVI in 2022.

Daniel Jones

Daniel Jones, nicknamed ‘Danny Dimes’, has been a standout quarterback in the league this year.

Throwing for 2,659 yards, this puts him at top spot for most passing yards in the 2025 season over the likes of Justin Herbert, Patrick Mahomes and Josh Allen.

Jones was released from the New York Giants in 2024 after spending nearly six seasons at MetLife Stadium.

He then joined the Colts in March 2025 to compete with fellow QB Anthony Richardson, and eventually he was named starting quarterback for the franchise.

Joining the Colts has allowed Jones to show his true potential after struggling to really push himself at the Giants.

Since getting behind the wheel in Indianapolis, the Duke University alumni has steered them to a brilliant 8-2 record and a serious chance of securing the #1 seed in the AFC.
