Monday Night Raw analysis: CM Punk drops pipe bomb; Oba Femi and Brock Lesnar brawl again
WWE are on a hot streak with Monday Night Raw at the moment and it continued on Monday, April 6.
Here, Sport News Blitz writer Joe Jones talks us through the key points from Monday night's stacked episode.
Confirmation of the return of the “Demon”
Tensions between former Judgment Day members exploded as Finn Balor was scheduled to face JD McDonagh.
The match never started however due to interference and a brutal beatdown from Dominik Mysterio.
Later in the programme Balor teased the return of his darker “Demon” persona.
Suggesting that the ‘Prince’ is going to tap into his darker psychological side to compete against Dominik Mysterio and show him he was wrong to betray his former leader.
Legend returns for Intercontinental title Ladder Match
There was a six-man tag team match-up involving half of the field in the Intercontinental title scene.
Penta, Dragon Lee and Je’Von Evans teamed up against Los Americanos and the ‘Young OG’ picked up the win for his team.
There were crazy spots in this match, so I am expecting the bar to be raised with the amount of insane move sets each wrestler involved possesses.
However, upon the three-count and ringing of the bell there was a surprise in store.
Hall of Famer Rey Mysterio came down to the ring to congratulate and praise current champion Penta.
However, this wasn’t the only reason he came down to the ring – Mysterio declared himself a part of it and made it a six-pack Ladder match.
This has potential to be one of the best ladder matches ever seen in WWE.

Heyman owes Gunther
The ongoing feud between Seth Rollins and Gunther escalated further.
Rollins came looking for revenge, leading to another physical confrontation.
The two brawled aggressively until officials intervened, highlighting the personal nature of their rivalry.
Gunther’s calculated brutality contrasted with Rollins’ emotional intensity, adding depth to their short but intense story.
The visionary alluded to Gunther striking a deal with Paul Heyman and this was shown backstage after the altercation between the ‘Ring General’ and Rollins.
Heyman said he owed the former World Heavyweight champion a ‘Very big thank you’ for what he did to Rollins at Madison Square Garden last week, Gunther simply responded with ‘You owe me so much more than a very big thank you’.
Oba Femi & Brock Lesnar brutality
Arguably the biggest hyped segment of the night featured Brock Lesnar and Oba Femi making their WrestleMania match official.
What was meant to be a standard contract signing quickly spiralled into a full-blown brawl, tension had been building for weeks, and both men finally exploded, needing security to separate them.
Office chairs and steel steps were thrown around the ring, reinforcing how strong both men truly are and how brutal and hard hitting their match at ‘Mania is going to be.
This feud is intense, even authority figures such as Adam Pearce and Triple H are struggling to contain the chaos – hopefully the match lives up to the hype.

Punk drops new pipe bomb
CM Punk kick started the show from Houston with a fiery and punchy promo – blurring reality and storyline aimed at his WrestleMania opponent Roman Reigns, The Rock, former owner Vince McMahon and Randy Orton’s new accomplice Pat McAfee.
The once self-dubbed ‘Voice of the Voiceless’ criticised McAfee for getting involved in the industry’s business and delivered one of the biggest shoot promos seen in modern day WWE.
Punk also called for the lowering of ticket prices in response to McAfee talking about ticket sales, stating “do me a favour, call up that agent that was foolish enough to shoehorn you into this business and tell him to lower the ticket prices.”
The World Heavyweight champ also had some indirect references to former boss Vince McMahon – “I have paid my dues, I have earned and deserved everything I bust my a** for, and you are just a buck-tooth nepo baby who ate dog food for a weird old man.
“And that weird old man treated me like a dog for years and expected me to smile,” he continued.
An amazing promo from the reigning champ who continues to solely set up the main event of WrestleMania.
An interesting week of WWE lies ahead with just three shows to go till the biggest event of the wrestling calendar. How many more twists and turns will we get?
