ITV horse racing tips and best bets for Doncaster and Kempton on Saturday, March 28
Sports News Blitz’s racing tipster Jeff Mexico is finally back from Cheltenham… Ladies College where he has been teaching sixth-form girls geography for the last month.
How Jeff managed to swing that gig is beyond us as he can’t tell the difference between a glacial system and an oxbow lake.
Let’s bring him back down to earth with a bump by waving in the traditional start of the Flat season at Doncaster, with five contests on offer from ITV, as well as three on the all-weather at Kempton.
Jeff Mexico’s tips
A few weeks back, I was moaning to someone that Jaffa Cakes are massively overrated. Then I realised that lots of dark-looking consumables actually aren’t as good as they think they are.
Licorice is bad for your heart, black wine gums aren’t as good as the green ones, balsamic vinegar is too posh, and prunes give you the shits. But the worst of all is Guinness.
Hats off to the marketing department at Guinness for making a ‘pint of the black stuff’ one of the most iconic drinks on the planet and the backbone of Irish civilisation, especially as it tastes like muck.
A pint of Irn-Bru with a dollop of vanilla ice-cream in it is a far more wholesome alternative. Scotland’s true gift to society.
Millions of billions of trillions of pints of Guinness were sunk at Cheltenham, so the stats claimed. The truth is most people had two pints before moving on to something that didn’t make them have black shits for the rest of the month.
Those types who drink more than five pints of Guinness in one sitting are also the people who dress up like a posh farmer to go to the Festival.
You know the ones – brown shoes, three-piece suit, gilet, flat cap, and one slightly longer finger nail to snort coke off.
You should avoid these people at all costs.
Anyway, let’s have a look at some horses shall we?

13:20 (Doncaster) – THE WILLIAM HILL TOP PRICE GUARANTEE EBF BROCKLESBY STAKES
Win tip: Blixen Force
Owner has won two of the last four renewals of this race, so is a savvy type with two-year-olds. Blixen Force looks like a colt who has the pedigree for 5f and dealing with soft ground, so can’t be overlooked.
Each-way tip: A Bear Affair
Yard has form in this race and also has a strong sprinting pedigree. In a race of unknowns, this could give A Bear Affair a slight edge.

Improving steadily this season, including a win and a big‑field effort late last year, which suggests there’s still more to come. Has the right mix of stamina, current form, and tactical profile to take this.
Each-way: Lavender Hill Mob
Dual‑purpose performer with a solid hurdles win in November and some consistent Flat form over staying trips in the past. Dropping back into a handicap where his rating looks workable.

Win tip: Far From Dandy
Has already run twice this year and has big-field experience compared to his green rivals. Won twice on the all-weather before stepping into better company, and now looks like a horse progressing into this grade.
Each-way: Principality
Ran solid races in competitive 1m handicaps last season, including big-field events at Haydock and Doncaster, so has the experience. Proven on good-to-soft/softish surfaces and has been holding his mark without winning, so could be ready to strike.

Each-way tip: Real Dream
Seasoned competitor at this class and trip and has run consistently off similar marks. Shown the ability to get a mile and a quarter on the all‑weather. Can grind out some place money if the race doesn’t go at a big gallop.
14:57 (Doncaster) – THE WILLIAM HILL DONCASTER MILE STAKES (LISTED)
Win tip: Qirat
Small field so you are getting one here, and Qirat has already shown he can operate at a higher level than typical Listed horses. Strong traveller with enough pace to hold position and shouldn’t get caught out by how the race unfolds.

Already has multiple wins on AW, including at Kempton over 1m. Her recent form shows improvement rising through the ranks. Should be in the mix late.
15:35 (Doncaster) – THE WILLIAM HILL LINCOLN (HERITAGE HANDICAP)
Win tip: Anno Domini
Exactly the right profile for this race: four-year-old, lightly raced, and already around the 100 mark. Showed progression through last season, stepping into better company and holding his own. Already could be a Group horse.
