Horse racing news: World Pool to debut on Dewhurst Stakes and Might and Power Days
World Pool will return to action on Saturday, October 11 with two new fixtures for 2025; Dewhurst Stakes Day from Newmarket and Might and Power Stakes Day from Caulfield.
A total of 12 races, seven from Australia and five from the UK, will be globally commingled on the day forming a top-class composite card that features four Group 1s and six other Group races.
Newmarket’s Dewhurst Stakes is often a key juvenile contest with a view to next season’s British Classics and will now be available to punters in 27 jurisdictions, along with three Group 3 races as well as the historic Cesarewitch Handicap.
Newmarket’s new fixture will be the penultimate World Pool race day in the UK, before British Champions Day at Ascot on 18 October, and a chance for jockeys to win points in the World Pool Jockeys’ Championship.
Oisin Murphy currently holds a commanding lead over his rivals on 151.15 points, with Kieran Shoemark (96.60) and now Hong Kong-based rider Richard Kingscote (91.75) currently filling the places.
The winner will be awarded £50,000 to be given to a charity of their choice on the conclusion of the championship on British Champions Day.
Before Newmarket’s card gets underway, seven races from Caulfield will be commingled as part of World Pool for the first time.

Among them are three Group 1 features: the Caulfield Guineas, one of Australia's premier three-year-old contests headlined by top-flight winners Vinrock and Nepotism and promising Chris Waller-trained pair Wodeton and Autumn Boy; the Might And Power Stakes, a Cox Plate guide with Treasurethe Moment to tackle Buckaroo; and the Toorak Handicap at a mile, led by last-start G1 Sir Rupert Clarke Stakes winner Sepals.
The seven races also include the G2 Schillaci Stakes for sprinters, the G3 Ladies' Day Vase and G3 HKJC World Pool Northwood Plume Stakes for mares and the Listed Weekend Hussler Handicap.
There will be seven World Pool bet types – Win, Place, Quinella, Quinella Place (Swinger), Forecast (Exacta), Tierce (Trifecta) and Treble – on offer to punters on the action from Newmarket, while five bet types – Win, Place, Quinella, Duet, Trifecta – will be available from Caulfield.
Sam Nati, Head of Commingling at the Hong Kong Jockey Club, said: “Commingling all of the world’s top races is an ongoing priority and it’s a great thrill to be marking World Pool’s debut on two historic fixtures in Australia and the UK.
“We’re sure World Pool customers will enjoy engaging with the new fixtures and races on what is set to be an exhilarating day of top-class action.”
