Horse racing news: William Hill applaud shrewd punter who turned tenner into nearly £50,000
William Hill have been hit by a remarkable weekend winner as one shrewd punter landed an each-way sixfold from just a £10 total stake, returning a cool £47,351.56.
The bet featured selections from Cheltenham, Doncaster, and Newbury, but unlike most big acca winners, only included one winning selection.
It started off with Great Fleet placing at Prestbury Park (25/1), followed by the same for Hoe Joly Smoke (16/1).
Figjam then placed at Doncaster (12/1) as did Supremely West (18/1) back at Cheltenham before Arabian Desert came second at Newbury (16/1).
It all came down to Hamish, with the old favourite obliging at Newbury at 11/2 to see the punter take home a chunky five-figure sum.
Not only did the customer pick shrewdly, they also received Best Odds Guaranteed on two of their selections, which dramatically improved their winnings.
Punter’s sensational work
Spokesperson for William Hill, Lee Phelps, said: “We enjoyed a fantastic weekend at the William Hill Showcase and William Hill Futurity Trophy meetings, but waking up to this bet has somewhat taken the shine off it!
“However, we can’t hide our admiration for this punter’s work. To turn a £5 each-way sixfold into nearly £50,000 is sensational work, especially so given the bet featured just one winner.
“It once again goes to show the value of Best Odds Guaranteed for punters.
“However, let’s not take anything away from this feat as this bettor has pulled off an extraordinary bet here, so we take our hats off to them!”
