Everton news: 10 fixtures for Toffees fans to relish in 2025/26 as Hill Dickinson Stadium opens
The forthcoming Premier League campaign sees Everton manager David Moyes start his first full season since returning to the club in January and the Toffees begin life at their shiny new 52,888-seater Hill Dickinson Stadium on the banks of the River Mersey.
And given the long and proud history of Goodison Park, it falls to Moyes and his men to ensure that the first go-around at their state-of-the-art home on Bramley-Moore Dock is a memorable and worthy one.
Here, Sports News Blitz writer Jon Shea looks at 10 fixtures for Everton fans to relish in 2025/26.
Note: All fixtures are subject to change.
Leeds United vs Everton – Elland Road, Monday 18 August 2025
Everton’s campaign begins away at newly promoted Leeds United.
The match has been selected as the first Monday Night Football clash of the season, meaning a difficult task for David Moyes’ men under the lights at Elland Road.
It will be the first time that Everton have begun a Premier League season on a Monday since the 2012/13 season, when a 1-0 win over Manchester United got things moving.
Leeds were crowned champions of the Championship last season, racking up an impressive 100 points and beating equally impressive Burnley to the title on goal difference.
Having lost the play-off final the previous season, Farke needed to get Leeds promoted and he did – now they face the task of remaining in the Premier League.
Everton, it must be said, have failed to win any of their last three opening day fixtures and it is also the first time they will be away from home on Matchday 1 since the 2020/21 season.
Ultimately, everyone at the club will be keen to make a positive start to a historic campaign.

Everton vs Brighton – Hill Dickinson Stadium, Saturday 23 August 2025
For the second season running, Everton kick off their home matches against Fabian Hürzeler’s Brighton & Hove Albion.
They will be hoping for a different result this time around, though, with Sean Dyche’s side swept aside 3-0 that day at the beginning of a miserable end to his tenure.
Moyes did at least manage to avenge that opening day defeat last term, beating Brighton 1-0 at the Amex thanks to an Illiman Ndiaye penalty.
It will certainly be a historic match for the club as the first competitive fixture at the newly built Hill Dickinson Stadium on Bramley-Moore Dock.
And with the Seagulls having become a steady Premier League club, coming close to the European spots in the last couple of seasons, it will be a tough fixture.
Moyes will also be looking to improve on Everton’s home form after the farewell campaign at Goodison saw just the five wins – the club’s worst home record in PL history.
In the end, Toffees fans won't care how the win comes about, as long as they leave the Hill Dickinson for the first time with a smile on their face.

Everton vs Aston Villa – Hill Dickinson Stadium, Saturday 13 September 2025
The second visitors to the Hill Dickinson will be Unai Emery’s Aston Villa in a game that continues the record of being the most-played fixture in English top-flight history.
A day often described as Everton’s commemorative ‘retro day’ will witness the 212th league meeting between these two storied clubs.
Aston Villa have certainly had Everton’s number since they were promoted back to the Premier League in 2019, with the Toffees failing to beat Villa in the league since March 2016 and earning a solitary win in the League Cup in 2023.
The Midlands club are undeniably a solid force under Emery and will no doubt prove a great test for Moyes’ side, but the historic nature of the fixture makes it one to look forward to regardless.

Liverpool vs Everton – Anfield, Saturday 20 September 2025
The Merseyside Derby is likely the first fixture every Evertonian looks for when the schedule is released every year.
This season, the first derby comes just five matches into the season, which is too early for some and perfect for those wanting to get it out of the way.
Anfield has been a graveyard for Everton, though, with them winning there only once – in 2021 – since the turn of the century.
Liverpool are moreover the Premier League champions, winning their 20th title at a canter and beating Everton at Anfield along the way thanks to a Diogo Jota goal.
The Toffees’ Anfield hoodoo has been tough to crack for some reason, but Moyes’ side were somewhat unlucky to leave empty-handed last season after having a goal disallowed for a marginal offside.
It will be the 210th league meeting between the two clubs, continuing the record of the most-played derby in top-flight English football, while being the 246th overall.

Sunderland vs Everton – Stadium of Light, Saturday 1 November 2025
The Black Cats’ promotion means that Everton will travel to the Stadium of Light for the first time since 2016.
Sunderland have spent a long period outside England’s top flight, but their play-off win has sent them back to the big time.
It will also be a massive game for Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford as he will return to the ground for the first time since leaving the club in 2017, following their relegation from the Premier League.
Pickford has always maintained that he remains a Sunderland fan despite leaving, potentially making it a homecoming-like atmosphere for England’s number one.
In addition, the manager at the time of Sunderland’s relegation was Moyes, so it will be a day of reunions on Wearside.
Everton won on their last visit to the Stadium of Light, almost nine years ago, thanks to a Romelu Lukaku hat-trick, and Moyes will be looking to repeat the trick when November comes.

Burnley vs Everton – Turf Moor, Saturday 27 December 2025
Although there are no confirmed Boxing Day matches yet, if this fixture is rearranged to that date, it will make Burnley Everton’s most common opponents on that date after clashes in 2018 and 2019.
There are numerous links to the Clarets in the Everton squad too, with the likes of James Tarkowski and Dwight McNeil moving from Lancashire to Merseyside in 2022.
Of course, both sides also have common ground with Sean Dyche as manager, but it will be a different look for Burnley come Christmas time.
Scott Parker’s side were very unlucky not to win the Championship title, having amassed 100 points before losing out on goal difference to Leeds.
They return to the Premier League at the first time of asking and will be hoping to be better than they were in the 2023/24 season.
Christmas fixtures are always a testing time for Premier League managers, and it will be interesting to see how Moyes manages Everton through a testing period.

Everton vs Bournemouth – Hill Dickinson Stadium, Wednesday 11 February 2026
This game is about one thing for Everton: revenge.
Revenge for what happened at Goodison in August last year, when Everton somehow managed to blow a two-goal lead in the last 10 minutes of the match as Bournemouth won it late on 3-2.
It is the game that precipitated the demise of Dyche and one that still haunts Everton fans to this day.
The Cherries also knocked David Moyes’ side out of the FA Cup in February, so there is definitely an extra edge to this one.

Everton vs Manchester United – Hill Dickinson Stadium, Saturday 21 February 2026
When Manchester United come to town, it is always a tasty match between the two sides.
Everton will be looking to get the win that slipped away from them in February this year, when they blew a 2-0 lead on the way to a disappointing 2-2 draw.
For Moyes, it constitutes a meeting with his old club – one that sacked him after just 10 months in 2014 – which adds extra fuel to the occasion.
It is also another fixture that is amongst the most played in the top flight, with these two having met every season since the late 1970s while facing off in two FA Cup finals.
The match-up is now set to carry on into a new era at Hill Dickinson.

Everton vs Liverpool – Hill Dickinson Stadium, Saturday 18 April 2026
A historic rivalry enters a new era as the Merseyside Derby meets the Hill Dickinson Stadium.
The last derby at Goodison was as dramatic as it had ever been, with James Tarkowski lashing home a stoppage-time equaliser and three red cards being brandished after the full-time whistle.
As a result, the final derby record at Goodison was a stalemate as both sides won 41 each.
It is now David Moyes’ job to make sure Everton get a positive result out of this one, which is in many ways the most important home game of the season.
The nerves will be jangling, no doubt, but hopefully for Everton fans, they can find a way to get over the line.
Liverpool did admittedly find it tough going at Goodison towards the end, winning only one of the last eight meetings, although Everton only won one of the last eight meetings too, and 10 of the last 13 meetings ended in a draw.
Both sets of fans will be desperate to win this one, then, and you can bet the other side will not hear the end of it whichever way the result goes.
Tottenham vs Everton – Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, Sunday 24 May 2026
Everton’s season ends at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, as it did in 2019.
It will also be the third time in the previous five seasons that the Toffees’ season ends in north London, having faced Arsenal there in 2022 and 2024.
Additionally, it will be interesting to see where David Moyes’ Everton are at the end of this campaign, with the trip hopefully a stress-free one for the fans.
Perhaps, as the gaffer has hinted at, getting back into Europe is on the cards at some point in the near future.
At the end of the day, another season in the top flight dawns, extending Everton’s proud record as the longest-serving side amongst England’s finest.
With any luck, after what has been a tough few seasons for the Toffees, there is a positive road ahead at the Hill Dickinson Stadium.
