Estevao steps up in Chelsea’s dominating 5-1 win over West Ham

Chelsea produced a dominant display at the London Stadium on Friday night, beating West Ham 5-1 to give them their first win of the Premier League season.

The evening began with a setback for the visitors when Cole Palmer pulled out during the warm-up, but his replacement, 18-year-old Estevao Willian, stepped up in style.

Clinical Blues strike back

Despite falling behind to an early strike from Lucas Paqueta in the sixth minute, Chelsea responded quickly and took control of the game.

Joao Pedro equalised with a header before Pedro Neto put the Blues in front. Estevao then marked his full Premier League debut with an assist, setting up Enzo Fernandez to make it 3-1 before half-time.

Chelsea did not ease off after the break. Moises Caicedo, making his 100th appearance for the club, added a fourth goal from a corner, and Cobham graduate Trevoh Chalobah scored the fifth to complete a comprehensive victory.

Potter’s job on the line?

For West Ham, it was another difficult night under manager Graham Potter.

Defensive errors cost them repeatedly, while goalkeeper Mads Hermansen struggled to deal with Chelsea’s set pieces. The home fans showed their frustration, with many leaving before the final whistle.

The result means West Ham have now conceded eight goals in their first two league matches of the season, piling more pressure on former Chelsea manager, Potter.

Chelsea, meanwhile, showed depth and quality, proving they can handle setbacks and still deliver a convincing performance, currently sitting third.
