Darts news: How Beau Greaves became the first woman to win a PDC title

Back-to-back WDF Women’s World Champion Beau Greaves has brought many eyes onto the sport of darts in recent years, as she has quickly moved towards uncharted territory for a woman in the game.

After picking up her first ever PDC title, Sports News Blitz’s Charlie Fawcett takes a look at how it was done.

Breaking new ground in the PDC

Despite featuring at the World Championship, Grand Slam of Darts and the UK Open previously, 2026 marks the first year that Beau Greaves has been an official PDC Tour Card holder.

She achieved this by finishing runner-up in the 2025 PDC Development Tour, allowing her to become only the second woman to hold a PDC Tour Card, following Lisa Ashton.

So far this year, Greaves has consistently attended events as she has looked to steadily climb the Order of Merit, with Monday’s Players Championship 11 proving to be the standout moment of her campaign so far.

A historic run to the title

Greaves shattered barriers in a way never seen before in the PDC, becoming the first woman to win a title while delivering a series of outstanding performances along the way.

En route to the final, Greaves saw off Rob Cross in a last-leg decider.

Most notably, she defeated two-time world champion Gary Anderson 7-1, setting up a final clash with Michael Smith.

“Bully Boy” produced a strong performance in the final, but Greaves held her nerve to secure an 8-7 victory, despite Smith averaging 97.

A landmark moment for darts

This result marks a landmark moment for the sport and will undoubtedly contribute to its continued growth.

It is also likely to inspire more young girls to take up darts, strengthening the talent pool and raising the overall standard of the game in the years to come.

What comes next for Greaves?

As the season progresses, Greaves will be a player to watch.

She is likely to feature at the Players Championship Finals for the first time, while appearances at the Grand Slam of Darts and the European Championship also remain strong possibilities.

Furthermore, she is expected to return to Alexandra Palace in December, which would mark her third appearance at the World Championship.

It would not be unrealistic to suggest she could make a deep run this year, especially with less pressure on her shoulders after gaining consistent experience on the tour.

For those looking to watch her in action, the 22-year-old will return on Monday 4th May for Players Championship 13 in Hildesheim.
