Cricket betting tips: Best value bets for England vs New Zealand and India vs Afghanistan
England host New Zealand in the second Test of their three-match series, while India look to wrap up their ODI series against Afghanistan in Lucknow this week.
Here, Sports News Blitz cricket expert Himanshu Sharma breaks down the best bets, value plays, and key betting angles for this week’s fixtures.
England vs New Zealand, second Test
Date and time: June 17 (Wednesday) at 11:00am BST
Venue: The Kia Oval, London
Plenty has happened off the field since England’s win in the first Test.
Ben Stokes and Gus Atkinson have been slapped with bans, Kane Williamson has retired, and first-match POTM Ollie Robinson has been ruled out with injury.
The two sides thus renew their rivalry while adapting to major changes.
The Oval is expected to offer a fair contest between bat and ball, although it is a venue where teams have regularly crossed the 400-run mark.
Joe Root looks well placed to cash in on what should be a good batting surface.
Meanwhile, the Oval’s traditional bounce and carry could play into the hands of Kyle Jamieson, whose height and ability to generate movement make him lethal.
Despite a plethora of personnel changes and outside drama, England are favourites for the Test.
New Zealand at 2.20 looks a touch overpriced considering England are without Stokes, Atkinson, and Robinson, but the hosts remain favourites at 1.60.
Best value bets:
New Zealand at 2.20
Top batter (runs scored) – Joe Root (England), Tom Blundell (New Zealand)
Top bowler (wickets taken) – Josh Tongue (England), Kyle Jamieson (New Zealand)
India vs Afghanistan, second ODI
Date and time: June 17 (Wednesday) at 1:30pm local time / 9:00am BST
Venue: Ekana Cricket Stadium, Lucknow
India head into the second ODI in Lucknow with a chance to seal the series.
The hosts secured the win in the first match without needing to hit top gear.
However, Afghanistan may view the conditions in Lucknow as an opportunity to make this contest far more competitive.
The surface is expected to offer assistance to spinners, potentially bringing Afghanistan’s greatest strength into play.
Afghanistan will also be encouraged by India’s experimental-looking ODI set-up, particularly if spin plays a significant role in Lucknow.
For Afghanistan to level the series, a stronger collective performance will be required.
India at 1.13 are justified favourites but limited value.
Afghanistan at 7.00 is a speculative value play if the pitch offers substantial assistance to spin.
Best value bets:
Top batter (runs scored) – Rahmanullah Gurbaz (Afghanistan), Shubman Gill (India)
Top bowler (wickets taken) – Rashid Khan (Afghanistan), Arshdeep Singh (India)
