Cricket betting tips: Best bets for England vs India ODI and Major League Cricket

England and India switch gears from T20 cricket to the 50-over format as the first ODI gets underway at Edgbaston on Tuesday, while Major League Cricket reaches its playoff stage with Qualifier 1 and the Eliminator.

Here, Sports News Blitz cricket expert Himanshu Sharma picks out the best bets, player markets and value angles.

England vs India 1st ODI at Edgbaston, Birmingham

Date and time: July 14 (Tuesday) at 11am BST

England arrive full of confidence after dominating the T20I series and Harry Brook's side will look to carry that fearless brand of cricket into the 50-over format.

India, however, present a completely different challenge with Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, Shubman Gill and Jasprit Bumrah all returning for the series.

After a disappointing T20I series, the longer format should suit India's experienced batting unit.

Kohli and Rohit have built their reputations in ODI cricket, while Gill has already established himself as one of the world's leading ODI batsmen.

Talking about the venue, Edgbaston has been one of England's most reliable batting venues in white-ball cricket, which makes run markets and top-batter bets attractive.

England piled up 400 here against West Indies in the last One Day International here, while several recent Blast matches have been high-scoring affairs.

With two batting-heavy line-ups on display, another run-filled encounter looks likely.

From a betting perspective, the player markets look particularly appealing given the batting quality on both sides.

Kohli immediately stands out in the betting markets and remains one of the safest selections for India's top batter.

Joe Root also appeals for England after another productive summer, with his ability to anchor an innings making him a strong top-batter selection.

Expect England to remain competitive at home, but India's superior experience in 50-over cricket gives them a slight edge heading into the series opener.

India look fairly priced at 1.90, while England's 2.00 quote looks slightly short considering the visitors' superior ODI pedigree.

Best bets

Match winner - India

England top batter - Joe Root

India top batter - Virat Kohli

England top bowler - Adil Rashid

India top bowler - Arshdeep Singh

Washington Freedom have also carried excellent momentum into the playoffs and look the more complete side against an inconsistent MI New York outfit.
